Yeah, I got around that easily enough in the end. Not only was my Hulk's tank actually very good (on average it survived ganks of 3 or less, I lost 2 in 5 years) but i mined in a Rohk (Caldari Battleship) during the 'geddon. That confused the gankers as there's no way a squad of destroyers is getting it down in time to avoid CONCORD death and they weren't up for spending on bigger ships to get it done. All I got was orbiting destroyers and smack talk which is not hard to deal with.WelshAvenger wrote:Let's not forget the annual 'Hulkageddon' sponsored by those asshat Goons.

Re: Eve Trailer
That is such a common and completely incorrect perception; EVE is not a game of 1v1 duels where the guy with the most skillpoints and the best-fit ship wins. I've met (and blown up) many people that have been playing longer than my own three years. What counts far more is what the fight is, and the people you're flying with. Evidence: look at the rather good fights that Brave Newbies has been giving Pandemic Legion of late in the Catch region. A giant horde of well, newbies is giving trouble to and inflicting real losses (sometimes) to one of the most powerful groups in EVE.asimogorov wrote:EVE, oh EVE! If only it doesn't take 10 years to build a ship and loose it in 10s because someone put 11 years into building their ship!
Sysil: if you have any eve-related questions, I'd be more than happy to help you, am more than over any disagreements we may have had in the past. I can tell you that eve is as 'grindy' as you want to make it, or not. There are so many ways to make money in support of pvp activities that there's almost guarunteed to be one you enjoy, whether that be exploration, industry (spreadsheets), grinding missions, scamming, trading, etc. Many people make fortunes without touching spreadsheets.
cmdraftbrn: If you think combat in EVE is boring, try heading over to Faction Warfare space and flying frigates in novice / small plexes. Fast-paced, and very rewarding of individual pilot skill when it comes to range control, target selection, slingshot maneuvers, etc.
Perpetuum online is a huge trap. There are lots of ways to avoid unwanted pvp if you're clever / aware.
If anyone has questions about EVE, wants help getting into it, send me a PM here, or better yet, eve-mail "Analise McKeon" (my primary hisec character, most regularly online) with anything and just mention that you're from 12th.
At it's heart, EVE is fundamentally a deeper, more social game than anything else I've played. It's been a wild and interesting time; made great friends, done amazing things and I feel like I'm someone that matters. Never felt that I was part of a group that actually mattered and could have a fundamental impact on what happens in the galaxy while tromping through the themepark.
PS: I approve of the mining Rokh during hulkageddon.

Re: Eve Trailer
Doing quite well. I've been quietly keeping tabs on the state of STO, and nothing I've seen has made me regret my decision to leave it; the increasing grind, laughable state of balance, huge cash sinks, etc. Doing well in RL with a new job, and carving a nice eve career out for myself; been experiencing the big fleet fights (tidi and all) and finding a place I can really be happy long-term. Lots of kills, new friends and space coffins in my future.Husker wrote:Hory shet, it's Naldoran![]()

Re: Eve Trailer
Holy hellfire! Just found out that my old character is still around. (My ex wife threatened to delete it when she divorced me as she played eve too and knew my password). Looking at the account activity, I suspect she didn't even raid my ship bank so my T3 Amarr strategic cruiser of lazor death should still be in my hangar. If Cryptic really kill my interest in STO, at least I'll have a few shiny ships to fly in New Eden. Also, because the account was active seven months ago, my character's name should be on the EVE monument in Reykjavik.

Ah EvE, how I loved it, for years and years but at some point it all was just another episode of :
Wait 5 hours... 2 minutes of intense action... wait 5 hours... enemy ran away... wait 1 hour... 10 seconds of action... enemy warped out again.
During Hulkageddon you have to fly a Durka Durka Rokh
Or a mining carrier
