Eve Trailer

Post by WelshAvenger »

This almost makes me want to go back to Eve Online.
I know that it's like chalk and cheese between STO and Eve but when was the last time you heard (or had) a reaction in STO like that last guy in the trailer?

Then I take off my rose tinted specs and remember why I left Eve in the first place.

In my desperation to find a good space game I'm trying Eve at the moment.

Apart from not being in the ST universe, up to now Eve seems much superior to the Asian grind game STO has become.

Naldoran (Alex) still plays it. He still responds to PMs.

then comes the realization. you traded a short grind to a ridiculously longer spreadsheet grind.

EVE, oh EVE! If only it doesn't take 10 years to build a ship and loose it in 10s because someone put 11 years into building their ship!

I haven't played Eve in ages. I do sometimes miss the complexity, STO compared to this is childs play. I have Elite to keep me busy now although imo even that doesn't hold a candle to Eve.

One thing I want to know is what kind of grind Eve has. In STO, to get specific marks you are forced to do a couple of missions over and over. In Eve, am I forced to do the same thing over and over or is there a variety of things I can do to get what I want?

You just need to make sure you're the guy that took 11 years :D

Tried Elite Dangerous. Took me five times to complete the tutorial. The crappy adversary ship kept killing me. Not really into twitchy games. Frustrates me that the ship should be aiming, not me.

You can buy gimballed weapons to replace the fixed weapons on Elite. Once you target an enemy they will follow your target as long as you're in range.

I'm guessing they are inferior in all respects to fixed weapons? Else I would have thought that that would defeat the point of the game
