Admittedly, I've been spending most of my time just doffing lately. Relaxing, done in twenty minutes a day, and after all the grief with how hard it is to level up, it certainly helps. Now that I have half an idea of how to build better DPS equipment, might put some work towards that. Once I can hold my own in the new queues, the game will have more rec play value for me.

I mean, in ways, I sorta get it. Cryptic has to make money to keep the servers online and keep development going. It's too bad it's being done by putting a new treadmill in front of us. Geez, give me a T6 TOS Connie, and you can just take my money.

Tuevonly big issue I'm having is that now that I hit lvl 60 I still have lots of specialization points to get. ivunderstand it's suppossed to add to the end game, but really, can we lower the amount needed per point just a bit to make it less than one a month or so.

On the flip side, I'm trying a science char and engineer lately for variety from my tac.

I do the same thing. I don't have much fun in STO anymore.

I was already resigned to the fact that it was going to take over a year at my play rate to reach the "end game" - end game (with all upgrades on my main builds done, all specialization points done, all toons at lvl 60, new reputation tier 5 done...) again. So now just grinding my EC and Dili to get there. Chatting with you guys helps a long way!

I just can't bring myself to do it, Gorov. I want to do, I want my alts to be viable again, so badly. But the grind involved... I'm still working on finishing it off for my main! Of my alts, the highest is 54, and that was solely down to Tau Dewa.

I mean, I don't get it - I'd be playing the game so much more if the numbers involved in the upgrade and XP systems were reasonable. I'd be using nine toons, instead of one, and most likely contributing with the odd micro-transaction here and there. But because they're so daunting, I'm just not bothered.

It's really backwards logic, from my point of view.

One thiny im seeing that makes me wonder sometimes and think why?, is these guys with Uber high DPS. I ran a couple Infected the other night and the first cube was gonna almost before I got to it. Where's the fun in that? Give me 5 guys with all around 7-15k DPS and a 5-10 min run over a 2 min melt fest any day.

First off, I admit I'm a terribly basic solo player and I don't fully understand the upgrade mechanics (never played an mmo game before). I took a break from STO for a while after reaching lvl 50, being dissapointed with the Galaxy X and trying to get shiny equipment but had no clue what I was doing (still don't lol). I've come back to the game and found a new appreciation for replaying all the storyline missions. What has kept me playing every night though has been foundry missions. I'm a big trekkie and I have loved playing the ones that have been created by, obviously lifelong fans with some great development arcs, that put the official ones to shame. I've given up on trying to be the mightiest and just focus on enjoying the trek universe. I've even ditched my Galaxy X and gone back to my tier 4 Sovereign class because I love the look and I find it more fun.

You're absolutely right Merlin. You don't need the top end gear except in one particular case: to do the only thing that interests in the game.

PvP.

If I go into the queues with my Mk XII equipment I will be a detriment to my team. To be competitive, I HAVE to have Mk XIV weapons and consoles. I HAVE to have multiple specialization slots. The cost of being competitive in PvP, even for me with all my lockbox ships, Mk XII Elachi cannons and 5/6 reputation unlocked is just too damned high.

I don't even want to imagine a new player :face:

True, yes for PVP it's prob expensive, I wouldn't know, but I'll take your word for it.

Reg. # of toons, I had at least one toon in each faction that I actively played before DR, but since DR, I have deleted all the toons beyond 1 in each faction and they are essentially dili mules, save one main toon.

The days of casually playing and having 10 end game toons is gone (it'll take you 10 years)!
