Star Trek Lore Question

I have been wanting to brush up on my Star Trek history a bit due to the fact that I wish to write a character bio. Does anyone have any good links to some sites that I might be able to learn more about the Star Trek Universe? Perhaps something that acts as more of a synopsis than a complete overload of information :)!

Also, decide where or when you want your character to exist. STO takes place in the future, so you may want to check out the STO main page and start reading the story that catches us up to that timeline.

Yeah Memory Alpha has a lot of information but reading the main Starfleet article and the main Federation of Planets article would probably be a good place to start. Or just watch a bunch of Star Trek episodes, that is a good way to find good role playing ideas.
