Request to Serve

Hello to everyone!! I am requesting to have the opportuinty to serve in the 12th fleet.

So a little bit about me....

I am a 37 year old New York City dweller (born and raised on "Longuyland" but I've worked off the thicker part of the accent)

I've been fascinated by all things related to space since the age of 8 and a Star Trek fan since high school. I'm a private pilot and Cessna-182 owner so I have some experience having a ship under my command.

In RL I am the Operational VP of a "service oriented" company with a few thousand employees, so I have my fair share of management experience.

Aside from flying, I travel as much as I possibly can. Sometimes just for the simple thrill of exploration and sometimes with a purpose (I did some mountaineering for a few years and have climbed in the Andes and summited the highest peak on 2 continents).

I would like the opportuinty to be part of a fleet with an organized, defined command structure and I really like what I have read here. I'm all about command structures in my RL situation and I know first hand that successful organizations only succeed if everyone knows that they are part of something larger and not their own franchise. I'm also a firm believer in the philosophy that you cannot manage (command) somone unless you have personally done their job. I've always held myself to that standard in my RL career and I'd love to live out the role of doing the same thing in a Starfleet career.

Anyway, that being said, I am interested in Diplomacy, Exploration, and Tactical in that order. Being an Operations VP, I am more often than not the "face" of the company during negotiations and settling disputes so that's why Diplomacy appeals to me very much. Exploration is also big on my list for the reasons I mentioned above. And lastly tactical appeals to me because sometimes you just want to kick some butt!!!

So I hope that my RL skills and desire to be a part of something like this can serve the good of the fleet in some way.

BTW, I do have some MMORPG experience. I have an EVE account (2 actually) since 2004 that I play on and off. But my true love for anything space related is Star Trek!!

Considering your RL experience and the need for more active diplomats, we would like to place you into Diplomacy, possibly at a higher rank than Ensign. That's not a guarantee but a possibility. The best rank that I believe we could offer is no higher than Lt. Cmdr, at this point. I will speak with our FA to see what we need to start out with since of your expertise. Of course, you'll get to "kick some butt" but as I mentioned, we need more that actively deal with diplomacy with other fleets and such.

I am by no means looking for a rank higher than what best serves the fleet. In fact the way I see it personally, the more ranks above you, the more to which you have to aspire. Rewards are most appreciated when earned and not bestowed.
