Advice on STO game launcher

Good day, I have recently returned to the game, STO Anniversary event, I was wondering if it makes a difference using either Steam or the Arc launcher to launch STO?

I use the Cryptic launcher 99% of the time. I do have Steam (never used to launch STO) and Arc (for redeeming codes).

Use the cryptic launcher. Arc likes to stay on even after you close STO and then it likes to gather “telemetry” data AKA meta data about you so that it can sell that data. I’m a cyber security specialist and trust me….. I know. All the launchers do this but at least with the cryptic launcher it shuts down when you start the game and doesn’t hang around after you close STO. Got a code? Launch ARC, redeem it, then shut that piece of garbage down.

yeah Arc is only ever allowed to run for redeeming promo codes. Its a horrible mess.
