YOU :!: are Invited to
The Fleet-Wide Squad of the Month Meet!

The scheduling of the MAY Meet is now CLOSED.

It is time to choose this month's meet date.

Post your scheduling choice in a reply below. Note that dates you say you cannot attend are more important than the dates that you request in deciding the date of the meet. We are trying to get the highest turn out of all squad members. Thus, if 5 people request one day but 6 can attend on a date that no one has requested, then the date on which 6 can attend will win. It is assumed that you can attend all suggested dates, unless you say otherwise in a post below or have communicated that fact to me directly.

Extra weight is given to the votes of squad captains, squad XOs, and anyone who is actually committing to showing up at a time (as opposed to "maybe" showing). Scheduling depends ultimately on who wants to participate and who will actually show up. In order to get the maximum turn out from US and European members, our starting time is traditionally set on a weekend at 10 PM in UK (which in winter is the same as GMT/UTC), but the time chosen depends on who is committing to be there.

Currently, I am favoring Saturday, May 27. The other choices are [Monday the 29th (which is a work holiday in the US),] Sunday the 28th, Sunday the 21st, Saturday the 20th, Sunday the 14th, and Saturday the 13th.
  • What is Squad of the Month?
The Squad of the Month ("SotM") meet is a monthly fleet event which starts with an inter-squad competition to determine the Fleet's Squad of the Month. The competition is followed by group activities which may include: build advice, challenge match PvP, teaming up to cruise the PvE/PvP queues, and just hanging out together on TS. We are a casual fleet, and participation in any portion of SotM is optional.

The rules for the competition can be found posted here. The competition portion of the meet is not designed for perfect balance; there is no great honor in winning, nor dishonor in losing. It is intended mostly to provide a focus activity for everyone at the event which allows us to hang out together, improve our gaming skills, and have fun. :)

Hmm from those I am still seeing option on Saturday 27th. Unless JJ, you are actually attending the race on the 28th in which case you may be on the road Saturday evening? Also if you are watching the race on TV, we could try starting an hour or so later on Sunday the 28th to accommodate you (then you could at least make the competition and maybe come back later after dinner). If everything is truly out, $@!t does happen, and we will miss you this time.

There are no Friday work holidays in the U.S. this month. Therefore, putting it on a Friday, would normally mean starting later to accommodate people's work times in the U.S. The important consideration is accommodating those who both want to and are likely to actually attend, so there is some flexibility on the time if those who are likely to attend have flexible work schedules on a Friday. Otherwise, looking at a Friday start time would be around Saturday 2AM BST/Friday 7PM EDT, which would still not accommodate anyone working on the west coast and would not be a very fun time for you or Blaze over there in the UK.

Monday the 29th is a work holiday in the US (Memorial Day), so we could do it that day (I am adding it to the selection options above).

At the moment, still looks like Saturday the 27th is leading.

i watch from the best seat in the house. home with air conditioning. unless time warner cuts the feed.... again. derby day kinda works since that race is usually around 4ish my time and only lasts maybe 2 minutes. but the 13th and 20th are currently no-goes for me.

There is still at least one other date that looks like it would work and include you Zoltan. I have not seen anyone say anything against Sunday the 21st.

Also, are you by chance off work on Monday the 29th (U.S. Memorial Day)?

At this point, it would now appear Sunday the 21st is in the lead. :!:
