Hi Everyone,
I was wondering if anyone knows of a guide or a thread somewhere with info relating the the gear upgrade system - specifically a list of items with 'set' or standard rarity upgrade results. I have heard that certain (or all) reputation gear has set modifiers for rarity upgrades, but have not been able to find anything specifically detailing this.
Thanks!

I use to look at Liberty Task Force's page:
http://www.libertytaskforce.com/forum/m ... /post/last for some quick glimpses.
Other than that, searching for crafting within 12th fleet forums will yield some good threads of who in 12th can help around with crafting.
But as to what the success is with upgrading to gold, I've only seen one guy on 12th who has a whole build in gold epic level - Blackjack. So there aren't many with much experience bumping things to gold-epic!

Upgrade to MK 14 and then leave it alone. If you do not want to spend the gross product of a little crountry on upgrading to gold, simply be content with MK 14. Upgrading in rarity is worse than highway robbery.
Going from personal experience its simply a huge waste of resources and then you get an RNG mod which could be good or which it was in my case just garbage and wasted even more resources ^^
Its probably really hard to gain accurate data if reputation gear has set modifiers because its so hard to get a rarity upgrade. I can only give you the example of my Exo Armor (Dyson set) got a [Tox] modifier upon grade improvement, saw someone elses with a [RegHP] modifier on it. So it might be just another RNG thing even for reputation pieces, or only some pieces and others with set ones. I doubt that there is much data on that since its so expensive.

Re: Gear Upgrade System
I'd echo what Eldiora said, I've been drip upgrading my gear and have found even basic stuff expensive really.
I'd say at most I'll be aiming for an eventual level of Mk 14 Ultra Rare for most of my gear (the UR mods seem to be more useful than the Epic mods) but heading for Mk 14 will be the first goal.
There doesn't seem to be much objective, empirical info on what you get mod-wise.
The only other use I've found for it is to make specific items at Mk2 in R&D - such as a [CritD]x3 beam and upgrade that to usable level - it's ok for making special pieces.

Sell all stuff related to upgrade and crafting and buy the items you want. Much cheaper.

A remarkably sensible and viable idea also....Mike wrote:Sell all stuff related to upgrade and crafting and buy the items you want. Much cheaper.

This is done sooner the better... Prices have been creeping down, I don't know where they'll level off...Dancamvet wrote:A remarkably sensible and viable idea also....Mike wrote:Sell all stuff related to upgrade and crafting and buy the items you want. Much cheaper.

What does the experimental tech do and is it worth it? It seems to cost over double the amount of normal tech, almost double the dill requirements and half the time does nothing extra when I fit it to the upgrade window. Am I missing something?

It gives you a x2 chance of a quality upgrade.Pottsey wrote:What does the experimental tech do and is it worth it? I've only been using it for the first upgrade of Mk2s -> Mk8 as that increased quality chance applies to every upgrade until the kit runs out.
Theoretically it might also shorten the repetitions to get quality increase at Mk14 too but like all chance based things fate is a fickle mistress.....
