Ive recently decided that I wanted to start writing some short stories revolving around STO. Primarily a crew that is not the games primary protagonists (Your Characters).
Most of my inspiration for these stories will be coming from DS9 and its writers attempts to clean up and even organize the ST Universe into something a bit more in touch with reality (Fleets, Diplomacy, Trade, Crime, etc). What I want to do is apply this to the STO Universe. Attempt to clean it up a bit with some fanfic so I dont facepalm everytime I warp into a new instance. And to be honest. The STO Universe is quite one-dimensional. Everything revolves around the Hero, which yes I understand as a character in an MMO, it needs to happen. But so much so that very little story is told outside of the Hero and his/her Crew.
At least Blizzard got something right by releasing Comics and books that gave players a chance to see a world much more fleshed out. And maybe Im hoping to do this for myself, and any one willing to read once I have it finished.
But as I was prepping everything I needed to begin this story. Characters, Backstories, Setting, Plot, and such. I realized something. It had been so long since I played through the current content from Level 1-50 that I was unsure of everything leading up to the current events in Delta Rising. And I wouldnt be able to put together a rational story without a proper timeline of recent events. With all of the Tutorial Changes, the changes to the storyline involving the Romulans...What I experienced 5 years ago at the games launch might be significantly different from what is now portrayed in game.
So Ive set out to replay the game from Level 1- Level 60. And essentially create summaries regarding missions I play through. Much in the style of the Path to 2409. I will attempt to exclude any missions that are filler and simply not important to the overall storyline (Distress Call Missions, General Daily Missions). Mostly focusing on events that should be note worthy (Borg Incurisons in General, Klingon Doomsday Device, Iconians).
Ive also come to the realization that everything that takes place from Level 1- Level 60 would not be able to fit in a span of a year and a half. The Hero is just in too many places at once for it to be reasonable or possible. Obviously for the sake of gameplay the Hero IS in fact everywhere all at once so not to miss any content. But the only way for all of these events to take place in this span of time. Is for it to overlap and happen in general 'all at once'. Meaning that my story can not acknowledge the Hero. And pretend that said Hero doesnt exist, which I already intended to do. That the NPCs involved in these stories are at the heart of solving these disputes or conflicts.
I intend on using this thread to consolidate these summaries. And eventually organize them. Anyone that wants to chime in and debate where these events fall within the timeline are welcome. And will be taken into consideration. As of right now after playing the first three or four missions of the Fed side. Ive decided to put the starting date of the Timeline in late May 2409. This has been done because according to the Tutorial your character graduates from the Academy the day the opening events occur. I may be mistaken but everything Ive read up on about the Academy indicates they start in August/September and end May/June. So this is a rational starting point for me. If someone can provide evidence stating otherwise I will gladly change the starting point to fit that better.
If anyone who has played through the Romulan and Klingon Content and has extensive knowledge of the events occurring on those sides of the game would like to chime in. That would be greatly appreciated. The more knowledge I can condense and fit into my 2409-2410 Timeline will greatly help.
NOTE: Events for Romulans, Klingons and Feds may occur at different points through out the timeline. During my research Ive found that the Nukara Prime Tholian Incurison, according to the STO wiki, took place in April and early May of 2409. Which is prior to the Late May Events of Vega Colony. I believe we will run into numerous events that seem to not match up with the way in which we experienced the events in game. So just remember, while we may have played through missions in a certain order because of the way Cryptic released its Content....It may not have occurred in that order according to the way the timeline is supposed to be viewed.

Timeline: 2409-2410
Late May 2409
Federation:
Captain Kadek of the I.K.S. Ghot ambushes a Starfleet Cruiser on a training cruise only a few light years from the Sol System. The Commanding Officer, Captain Taggert, is kidnapped and killed during the ensuing battle. Captain Vo'Lok of the U.S.S. Renown responds to the Cruisers distress signal and destroys the I.K.S. Ghot. It is eventually revealed that the Klingons taking advantage of mounting victories in the Eta Eridani and Pi Canis Sectors have pushed KDF Fleets deep into Federation Space. The incident involving Captain Kadek and the I.K.S. Ghot is just the beginning of numerous engagements between Starfleet and Klingon Forces through out the Sirius and Regulus Sectors.
Hours later the U.S.S. Renown and the U.S.S. Khitomer will stumble upon Borg Probes in the Pollux System. With superior numbers, the Borg are able to push passed the Renown and Khitomer to the near by Vega System. The Renown is eventually able to catch up with the Borg and saves hundreds of civilians as they evacuate the Vega Colony. Unfortunately Vega Colony is considered a loss and Starfleet quarantines the System in an attempt to halt the Borg invasion.
Vulcan Ambassador Sokketh is discovered murdered in his home by Vulcan Authorities leading to the revelation that an Undine Infiltrator has been disguised and acting as Sokketh for weeks possibly months. Klingons searching for the Undine take over the P'Jem Monastery and take the Monks hostage. Only after Starfleet dispatches a small Task Force is the situation resolved with no civilian casualties. The Undine Infiltrators presence is quietly swept under the rug in hopes of preventing fear from spreading. But Starfleet and the Federation Council are no longer able to ignore the Undine threat.
Reports of Undine sightings through out the Federation Sectors continues over the next few weeks.
Early June
A Squadron of Gorn Ships lead by Captain S'snek captures and occupies the Kassae System. Claiming the Federation Researchers present are desecrating Gorn ancestral burial grounds they take the Researchers hostage on Kassae IV. After failing to check in with Starfleet and a search of the Kassae facility reveals an attack. Starfleet dispatches a strike team to Kassae IV and frees the hostages from the Gorn and Captain S'snek.
In the Regulus System Lt Miral Paris meets with a Klingon Representative, Ambassador Kas, to open dialogue for a possible ceasefire. But before talks can begin, Orion and Klingon dissenters attack the delegation on Regulus. After a Starfleet Task Force enters the system to rescue the delegation Ambassador Kas reveals the leader of the dissenters to be Admiral B'Vat. B'Vat, overseeing the attack himself engages the Task Force and reveals he seeks the death of Miral Paris as he believes she is a fraud and not the true Kuvah'Magh. When B'Vat realizes he cant defeat the Task Force he warps out of the system and escapes.
Indeterminate/Debateable
Klingon Empire:
While conducting a prisoner transfer, a bird of prey and the raptor transferring the prisoner are attacked by a galaxy class cruiser. The bird of prey was severely damaged and boarded. It turned out that the commander of the bird of prey had betrayed the empire in order to return the prisoner, a human with a large facial scar.
The captain paid for his betrayal, and was killed by his second officer.
Taking command the former second officer facilitated repairs and rejoined the raptor Seg'pa. After contacting the home world for reinforcements the attacking federation ships were destroyed and the prisoner taken to Qo'noS.
It took only a short time for the prisoner to make his escape... A ship was dispatched to track him down. The trail eventually led to the Boreth system. Though the prisoner escaped again a spy ring on Qo’noS was destroyed. The prisoner, now identified as one Franklin Drake, was next seen near Rura Penthe, though his motives for going there are unknown.
While on Rura Penthe, Drake was able to facilitate the rescue of a Klingon prisoner, K’mtar, who claimed that one of the great houses was plotting against the Empire. Interestingly, Drake initially referred to the prisoner as “Alexander.” Though skeptical, the guards and wardens apparent collusion in this matter was enough to warrant a search of the Vor system.
When confronted, the Yiridian research station called for assistance from a Tal Shiar task force, which, with the assistance of a Romulan Republic warbird, was destroyed. Data recovered showed that someone inside the Empire was funneling weapons and technology through the station to Nimbus III, for later transfer to the Tal Shiar. The Republican warbird agreed to forward any further information learned through the Klingon Ambassador on New Romulus.
Unfortunately, no clear evidence pointing to a particular house was found.
What evidence that was recovered was presented to the House of Martok, along with the evidence reporting that they were possibly the target of assassination attempts. Evidence pointed to both Worf and M’ven, the grandson of Martok being targets. The assassins were tracked to Forcas, where both Worf and M’ven were attending the Bat’leth tournament. The investigation that followed revealed the House of Torg as the traitors to the Empire, responsible for both the weapons transfers and the assassination of M’ven, who was killed on Forcas.
With this information in hand, House Martok moved against House Torg. Confirmation of the evidence was gathered during an attack on Torg, where his son was killed during the fighting.
The evidence was presented to the High Council, leading to the discommendation of House Torg. Without honor to the end, the duplicitous Torg attempted to stab Worf in the back. Though Torg was killed, he succeeded in killing Alexander, who gave his life to save his father.

Funny... I was just looking at possibly starting another KDF character. Now you've given me a reason.
I'll take some notes based on any data I can gather and shoot it to you in a PM.

Good to hear. Having someone to fact check me will definitely ensure what I present to be accurate. I appreciate it.Merlin wrote:Cool idea. Now to see about getting someone to help with the Romulan side of things.

So far, I've got through the tutorial, and the initial missions on Qo'noS. No dates (Not even the year) is mentioned, but it involves Drake and chasing him throughout the Empire. I should have a more complete write up in the next few days, at least for the first missions.
