For me EC is the problem not dill. Running two missions over 10mins gives the parts to craft experimental tech and gives 2k dill enough to use on the upgrade. For every experimental tech I earn 2k dil to use with the tech. It take 2 or 3 days of refining to upgrade one consoles to gold.
With experimental tech if you are mega, super unlucky it takes 40k dill max to get 1 console from very rare to gold. But that’s next to impossible you almost always do it in fewer than 20k often under 10k dill.
I've had a couple crits that took me to epic during Mk XIII -> Mk XIV...
All consoles thought, no weapon crits! Not upgrading weapons, waiting to craft [ARC] cannons.

Which missions are you running.
Defend RhIhho station and Nukara Prime Transdimensional both take about 5 mins each on Elite. You can either sell the loot box at the end or open it to craft. If you open that box that’s over 2k dill in 10mins, 2 salvage and a bunch of others mats to craft one experimental tech.
I am getting way more Dill then I need. The hold back is EC and salvage loot. As for grinding I have not found a better way yet then running Defend RhIhho station and Nukara Prime Transdimensional. I used to run Defend RhIhho station, Nukara Prime Transdimensional, Bug hunt then start again. Now I just run the two quick ones every so often.
