of course newegg is a good source as well but you do need to know a little bit more about what you want.

For me, the first question to ask is what cpu do you want. After that, the motherboard and video cards will fallin to place.

I have a EVGA 680i motherboard. It is older but supports dual core (might even do quad core) intel chips.

This is likely a good time to buy because chip makers are hurting so good prices can be found. And memory is DIRT cheap right now as well.
True prices are pretty low. I'm choosing an AMD chip because it's cheaper and in gaming it's almost as good as the i7 processors from Intel. Sure they might be better for multitasking and using video editing programs etc but I barely use the. rather save 70-100 euros.

I won't buy a new pc because I will also be paying for the case, the power supply, dvd burner and often stuff like extra software, mouse, keyboard or monitor. I already have those things :)
Sounds good. check Newegg out for any deals they may have running ond AMD and Motherboards. Next question is memory... likely want at least 4 gb, and then video card. You will likely be able to get out for about $400 dollars (not sure what that converts to in euros)

..I hardly know anything about computors and your talking about replacing motherboards and crap. I don't know what to say.

I'm 15. I can't buy all this! My parents will have to do it..and they won't; it costs for too much.

I only need to replace the CPU and Video Card. Can I do this without replacing a load of other things as well?

Forget the upgrades, I need a whole new computer.

Well sure it's possible to replace just the CPU and Video card for a better one (unless you have the best in it series ofcourse) We will need to know what kind of motherboard you have in your pc.

Do you own a pre-assembled pc from a store or did someone assemble it for yout from different parts. Most pre-assembled pc's have warranty rules like you can't open the case or change original parts or else you'll lose the warranty.

My GPU crapped out on me the other day. Gonna have to put it in the oven to fix it sometime tonight.

Hope it works =P

I wouldn't advise Alienware, I have one of their older desktops and it's the worst machine I've owned. It had problems right from the start and the graphics card ended up dying twice. Gaming PC's are the cheapest that they have ever been, you can get something capable of playing the latest games for 600-800 pounds these days and you should always look around as there are lots of companies making custom and stock gaming machines.

I've never built my own machine. I've upgraded easy stuff, like memory and video cards. I'm too impatient mostly to want to do it. I'm going to try to get my brother help me build a new one.

In the mean time, I have an AMD Athlon 64 3800+ MMX 3DNow 2.4GHz and a NVidia 7600 card with 265MB memory (4GB system total). I had bought Champions Online in a moment of weakness despite being below the minimum requirements. With low details I wasn't in too bad of a shape. The two games have identical specs, unless I made a mistake comparing them. So, I plan to start on my current machine if I can't get my new one built.

Having said that, time will tell if I am in trouble but based on my experience so far, going under the minimum requirements and running at low settings should get you by if you feel you have to. Come open beta, I'll know what I'm in for.
