Champions Online only became pre-orderable on Steam a few days before the open beta started. I would guess that the same will happen for Star Trek online.

Direct2Drive is digital and has STO preorder BTW, I prefer them over steam depends on the game but i will buy some stuff from steam. I dont like steam all to much #1 i havent been able to get a Valve half-life engine game to work stably on my comp in a LONG time 1 or 2. #2 the main steam program dosent agree with this computer it works but its always doing wacky stuff. My last comp just the Half-life engine games didnt work the steam program itself was good

Steam is like my virtual sugar momma/daddy. It works great for me and is always tempting me with sweet deals.

I have never tried Direct2Drive.

Impulse/Stardock is also good but they have much smaller selections then the other two digital distributers.

Steam is nice but its Valve games dont work on my PC and Steam itself loves to play tricks on my PC nothing to bad.

D2D is good just as good as steam they always have some deal going can get a slightly older game for half off or buy this game get the sequel for free stuff.

Ive had problems with both but my problems with D2D have been very minor easily fixed.
