The Advanced Light Cruiser Bundle

Post by Williamsto »

It seems the T6 Mirandas are coming. I have been joking about this literally since the beta, I never realized it would have come true. :bolian: :rommie: :rommie: :rommie:

Spoiler (click to show/hide)As the great Khan Noonien Singh once said, “we are one big, happy fleet…” and that fleet is about to get a little bit bigger with the launch of the new T6 Light Cruisers very soon!

To celebrate, we’re also releasing an updated version of the venerable Miranda-class starship. A workhorse for Starfleet for almost a century, the Miranda represents reliability and versatility. It also holds a special place in the heart of many Starfleet captains who began their first tour commanding one.

This new model has been rebuilt from scratch and will be a free update to all existing Miranda-class ships, as well as a customization option when you purchase the Reliant-class Light Cruiser (T6). This new model also includes new “Type 8” hull material and “Type 6” windows option that faithfully recreate the look of Starfleet ships of the 2280s.

Additionally, we’ve also added new “Saratoga” variant parts based on the ill-fated starship Benjamin Sisko served on during the Battle of Wolf 359.

To see all the details of the new model on an existing Light Cruiser, ready your Light Cruiser and visit the Starship Customizer interface. Select the Miranda template in the lower left to force the model to update with all of the new details.

We are excited to breathe new life into this classic Star Trek ship and hope captains will enjoy flying their own piece of Starfleet history very soon!

Spoiler (click to show/hide)We are pleased to announce the impending addition of a bundle of brand new Tier 6 Cruisers/Battlecruisers, coming soon to a C-Store near you! There will be one new starship for each faction.

The Klingon Empire has commissioned the QeHpu’ Advanced Light Battlecruiser!

The Romulan Republic welcomes the addition of the Deleth Advanced Light Warbird Battlecruiser!

Both of these starships are brand new visual designs, aimed at creating more nimble counterparts to most existing Battlecruisers and Warbird Battlecruisers, while maintaining access to the abilities and seating familiar to those classes of starships.

Meanwhile, the Federation’s Advanced Light Cruiser is a direct descendant of the Miranda-class cruiser, and bears the distinction of being known as the Reliant-class, in honor of one of its more famous forebears. It modernizes the utilitarian aspects of the Miranda design with a strong focus on mobility and utility, while improving the overall capabilities of this workhorse cruiser to match those of its fellow Tier 6 starships.

These starships are available in the C-Store and can be purchased by level 50 players (Vice Admiral and Lieutenant General ranks). Each of these Light Cruisers and Battlecruisers will have a Fleet variant made available upon release. All three faction variants share the same Universal Console and Starship Trait.

Items and Abilities

Console - Universal – Potential Energy Entangler

Activating this console will siphon off energy from your foes' weapon output, and use it to provide a speed and maneuverability burst to your ship. This results in a damage debuff for all affected foes, but the effectiveness is split among those affected. The buff applied to your maneuverability increases with the number of foes affected.

This console also provides a passive boost to Turn Rate, Accuracy Rating and Defense Rating.

This console may be equipped on any console slot, but may only be equipped on the Advanced Light Cruiser, QeHpu' Advanced Light Battlecruiser, or the Deleth Advanced Light Warbird Battlecruiser, or their Fleet variants.

Starship Trait

After achieving level 5 in your Advanced Light Cruiser, QeHpu’ Advanced Light Battlecruiser, or Deleth Advanced Light Warbird Battlecruiser, you will unlock the Evasion Specialist Starship Trait. Upon activation of Emergency Power to Engines, or any Pilot Bridge Officer Ability, gain Shield Hardness and Shield Regeneration for 5sec (once per 15sec max).

Availability

These starships are available in the C-Store individually, or they can be found packaged together in the T6 Advanced Light Cruiser bundle.

More details on these impressively mobile cruisers will appear in a Dev Blog within the next few days!

Developer Stream

Want to see these ships in action? Community Manager Ambassador Kael will be flying them along with their designers in a special stream on 5/17, at 3pm PST. Join us on Twitch or on Facebook!

Again, and in connection to the Connie discussion(s), it drives me a little bananas that Cryptic argued against upgrading smaller, older, vessels to higher tiers for years with the insistence that it would break the game for PvP because one's opponent could not look at a ship and "Know" its capabilities at a glance. Now that PvP is finally being legitimately worked on (for good or ill, but good I suspect), that's apparently not an issue anymore? ...*Chuckle*...

Personally, I never cared one way or the other, but theories about high-tier Connies or Mirandas, were always jokes to most, even where they were wishlist items for others. So, I'm glad that they are a thing now, but not because I want to fly one necessarily, but more because I know that there are those who have waited a very long time to be able to do so.

Next stop; Tier-6 Oberth? Or is that already in game these days...*Smirk*...
So much for Photo Bucket.

actually it was a pissing match with cbs/paramount. they didnt want the "older" ships running parallel or equal too the newer ships. maybe cryptic finally drilled through cbs's thick skull its all pixels and more money if they did it.
