So recently, despite theories to the contrary abound on the internet, I discovered that the d3d11 binary works for Star Trek Online (assuming you're running in DX11 mode), and that if you're using ReShade 2.0 or later, selecting the gameclient.exe file will filter out the injector features that aren't compatible with STO. The result is a stunning new way to look at our beloved game. Sure it may feature the anamorphic lens flares that made JJ Abrams and Mass Effect famous, but in this game, it looks utterly FANTASTIC.
See for yourselves.

Also I'll remember to get screenshots of combat. In certain situations, you get a bit of lensdirt effect, too, and that's really wild looking in combat.

Re: STO + ReShade 2.0
The most current version of ReShade 2.0 allows you to use each lens flare effect, bloom, lens dirt, adaptive sharpen, levels, and SMAA with either the dxd9 or dxd11 binaries. Experiment with either to see what you like using the best. Just make sure when you target STO, you're targeting gameclient.exe and not the launcher.

That all depends on what you're trying to get out of your experience, and what your computer is capable of.Imperium wrote:Any recommended settings for us amateurs to start from?

Re: STO + ReShade 2.0
Maybe some Lenzflare? I run at 4K (28" monitor) with a Trifire AMD setup (295x2 + 290X) on a 4770K CPU gently oc'd to 4.5GHz. I run 32 GB or Klevv RAM at 1600mHz with STO installed on a SATA-connected SanDisk SSD (960GB capacity).
I tried ReShade 2.0 the other day on STO using DX11 (which I run without problems in STO) with the Lenzflare option and I borked the game... STO kept crashing on loadup after that. I reinstalled STO.
