What the heck is wrong with people in the US
More shootings, this time in San Bernardino CA. Those outside the US. Do you think we need more gun control, or something else.

Re: What the heck is wrong with people in the US
We know what's wrong, and we know how to fix it. We just don't have enough people on board to take the necessary steps. Gun restrictions are needed, but a lot of other stuff needs to be addressed too.
This probably isn't the best place to start that conversation, however.

This is isn't about gun control Merlin and way to early tell what exactly happened, all we know at this point is this was a pre-planned attack; the FBI is even considering this as a possible terrorist attack. Don't politicize these victims death.

Keep in mind that the firearms used were illegal in California.

I didn't mean to politicize them. Sorry, was just looking for some outside perspective on mass shootings in general. My apologies if I've upset anyone.Williamsto wrote:This is isn't about gun control Merlin and way to early tell what exactly happened, all we know at this point is this was a pre-planned attack; the FBI is even considering this as a possible terrorist attack. I can understand wanting some outside perspective Merlin, unfortunately there is so much politics in the mix along with a good helping of personal ideas and opinions that keep any discussion calm can be rather difficult. It does not matter which aspect you approach there will be a different aspect that conflicts with it.
I personally am for having guns; being a Texan it is in my bones, I grew up with them, own them, and they will have to be pried from my cold dead hands.
Just keep in mind that fear and overreaction is definitely played on here no matter which aspect you sit on. The situation is unfortunate and my condolences to the families involved. There will always be evil people in this world, and they will do evil things. Sad truth, but is the world we live in.

I personally feel if more people carried as I have a permit to carry due to my work. People would have a small chance to defend themselves and the lives of those around them. You can make guns illegal but then those people that would use them for their own protection can not . Those who want to use guns for bad intentions will find weapons in any form illegal or not. We need to fight for our survival and our rights to live our lives as we choose. I will not change my life because bullies are trying to scare us. I will happily die for my rights to live as an American and the freedom to live as I choose.

Re: What the heck is wrong with people in the US
Interestingly enough, as much as I would argue that the public should be able to carry a gun, and I've considered getting a permit, I'm not sure I would be ok with the public being able to carry one. I know that statement is counter to itself.
What do I mean by it. I don't remember which school it was, I think Sandy Hook, but I'm not sure. When that happened there was a lot of discussion of teachers, admin, etc being able to carry a gun. I'm not sure I would trust many of the general public with a weapon like that. Most wouldn't get training, and I think they could cause more harm than good.

Oklahoma has concealed and open carry. In order to do so, you have to go through training to carry concealed or open. Now long rifles and shotguns can be carried almost anywhere. Hardly anyone does.
