Hey guys! I looking for a lil help. STO is constantly crashing on my system. I've read online about issues and fixess other people have had or did. but for some reason I cannot nail down what is going on. I never had issues like this before. Anybody have in sight or fixed their own issues??? Im running an i5 chip on a gigabyte board with 16 gb ram and a gtx 460 card. This is very frustrating that i cant play.
Thanks!

Re: STO not working on my comp
game file could be corrupted. have the launcher to a forced verify.
open the launcher, click options, tgo to where it says patching and click force verify.
this is the best place to start.

Re: STO not working on my comp
Also, and I know this sounds a bit crazy, but, make sure your video drivers are up to date. It seems that Cryptic builds (reasonably so), with recent drivers in mind? I don't know how much of a thing that is, but there are two things I have noticed with updates, 1) when they are big, and New Dawn introduced three significant systems recently--Admiralty, Dry Dock, and splitting traits--each of which ties into existing systems so changing those probably changed major elements of those systems. And 2) New stuff brings more people into the game which means Cryptic's servers keeping up with a lot going on at once.
As to the later, I always have server issues for a few weeks after new stuff is added to the game. Including server not responding and similar.
For the former, updated video drivers have historically helped with a variety of my post release performance issues in game.
All of that said, I am not a computer guy, my knowledge is less than expansive and all of this is nothing more than my own anecdotal offerings--regardless, I hope that you can sort it out.
maj!

Re: STO not working on my comp
Anything in event viewer for errors or logs, or in the crash files in the sto directory.
I'd guess drivers or maybe bad memory. Run a memory check and verify all drivers are up to date, mainly video.

Does anything here sound familiar. If possible try reducing graphics settings to minimum, or try removing a ram module and see what happens. Try each seperately, then swap ram one at a time and try again.
