As some may be aware, there's been what's called "Plasma doping" using the embassy science consoles and non-specific beam consoles to boost the DoT.

Well there's an incoming change to all the mechanics around the embassy consoles. Currently on Tribble, expect to see it soon. This post from borticuscryptic summarises the changes, and you can view the whole thread by clicking the upper right corner of that post.

The whole thing looks to be gettin changed with the DoT going in favour of a 1 hit application, and the bonus plasma damage is going to apply to only warp plasma etc.

EDIT: I've also heard that there may be a do-over of the DPS league after this goes out as there's a suspicion people have been vastly inflating what their ship can do using this mechanic.

Interesting, plasma moving from a dot to a single burst of plasma damage. Am I reading this right that plasma will no longer be a dot?

If so then that kind of changes how it is used and works compared to other weapon types. Then again would not have to worry about catching my ship on fire every time I launch a massive barrage of plasma torps.

I expected a nerf of DOT plasma Proc from Embassy consoles (I currently use flow cap one to boost Leech), after hearing how many people were talking about using FAW and marking multiple ships in a crowd to enhance their net DPS. I was pretty sure that according to Cryptic that is an "exploit" and they'll try to subvert that...

Well I'm not surprised they're changing it...only thing that may suck is for people who use the console to boost plasma weapons. only one thing that doesn't make sense to me...

The +Plasma Damage bonus gained from these consoles now only affects Exotic Damage abilities (e.g., Eject Warp Plasma, or Plasma Shockwave)

I don't get this at all...may as well just dump this boost and roll it into either the damage of the explosion or the stat(s) added.

Well, that's going to be a one free console slot after Cryptic is done with this. And I liked having that combo of particle generators and the plasma proc, for a small DPS boost and setting things on fire. :(

It's a good job i gave up plasma embassy consoles a long time ago on my main ship. I do have 2 on my Narcine though to boost the leech. May be time to switch to AP, will take me all of 30 seconds. lol

Wait, so are they replacing ALL plasma DoTs (from torps, normal plasma weapons and the embassy consoles) or are they just replacing the embassy console DoT with the explosion?

I was never really a huge fan of Plasma. I rather hate the fact that my Romulan torp sets me on fire more than it does my enemies. Lol... Slow turning ships and Plasma torps just don't mix.

I'm pretty sure just the console...I didn't see any mention of the weapons.

EDIT: I guess they didn't change them...appears they just fixed plasma doping...shame really I was kinda hoping the change would go through so it was just more than a weak dot...
