First Water Cooler

Post by Kahn »

Well, I finally took the leap and water cooled my computer. (I used Zalman CPU fans before)

I got the Corsair H100i from my local BestBuy with some gift cards I got for the holidays. My CPU stays pretty cool now. Right around 100 degree's F under a heavy load. It's a Intel i7 2600k SandyBridge 3.4 Overclocked to 4.2. Needless to say i'm pretty happy with it. Now I just need another GTX760 and i'll be rolling!

Anyway here's the Pic.

Very nice, running the same cooler on my AMD CPU; keeps it pretty cool even when it is a warm day.

Nice. Call me old fashioned, but for some reason, I still don't like the water/electronics combination. Do water coolers come with a warranty for leakage or broken hoses, etc? Honest question as I've never shopped for one.

I've never heard of a sealed cooler leaking. I've also never had a custom loop leak except on installation and that was minor. I suppose as long as you look after it you shouldn't have any problems.

This one has a 5 year warranty on it, so if a hose does spring a leak or whatever you can just send it back and they'll replace it. I was a lot like you until I finally took the leap on this. I swore up and down by fans and copper heat distribution, but I've been really pleased with this unit. I did research for weeks because I didn't want leaks to ruin my system and by far this one got the best reviews. It fits nicely into my NZXT 530. It comes with some neat software that keeps tabs on temp's and fan's, and you can set alerts if something catastrophic were to happen.

I've been pretty pleased with it so far, it's super quiet, and does an excellent job of keeping the CPU cool.
