As someone how has 20+ Boffs and bought many expansion slots for them.... where is my cryptic trollface icon?

Now all you need is 1 or 2 boffs of every profession max. Sure it will help me be more flexible and retain those rare space abilities (Too bad I have 10 Boffs already with Infiltrator and Sup Rom Operation... that change was a tad too late for me to save the ec for my duplicates just because I wanted to swap skills easily.)

I am really annoyed tough at the prospect that my surplus boffs cant train some other boff anymore. I had a good stock of bofs with Torp Spread III, BO III etc just in case.

Also I have the feeling I am loosing a bit of the "soul" of my Bridge Officers, because I know Satra is my Science Officer and had all the Science related abilities for ground and space and Dohel is my Medic who I always took down to ground for all my healing needs.

Same as D'Dex as my chief engineer. Now they can do everything and that will have the consequence of some of them being permanently benched.

Yes call me crazy, but I did name most of my Boffs and took quit some time with customisation and their appearance because I liked to have Boffs that were more than just abilities on my action bar.

Ill be gladly keeping every last one of my BOffs. Even when Im not RPing with others I RP on my own. Every last one of my BOffs have a purpose outside of the ability tray in my mind.

I have a helm officer, a navigator, separate away team from my bridge officers (why are command staff going planet side when their place is on the bridge??!??) auxiliary officers for the auxiliary stations on the bridge.

Some are even assigned to different shifts (Alpha/Beta/Gamma) from the primary Alpha Shift.

Ive always attempted to keep the BOffs on the ability tray those who would be assigned to my department heads (Science/Tactical) and hence assigned to stations on the bridge (Excluding the CENG). So this will definitely make it easier when changing out ships. I wont have to constantly go back and retrain the abilities. But I'll never give up my crew because some of them have been there since day one....Im looking at you my Andorian Tactical Officer.

In some ways, with the new Command Specialization and the ability to have BOffs specialize, I can see the potential for more depth to those BOffs that we do focus on. I am also not sure how the new Veteran Trait will work in the mix, but I think it'll all be good long-term (The consummate optimist I know).

But I do get the quandary, I mean after playing STO since OB, I have some alts with significant active rosters... But truth be told, I am kind of looking forward to managing a smaller "Team."

We'll see how it goes.

Can I please get 4 other team players to get the new command spec ability "Delegate Devastation MK XII" ! (+40% damage on allies your weapons go offline)

I want to yell on ground "OVER 9000!"

altough Shock and Awe seems also not too bad, resist reduction and speed reduction.

Its just too bad that grinding 26 Spec points is simply silly. Those abilities might come in really really handy on a fleet run to max speed for ground if you have 1 player use some of those really good buff abilities.

Imagine a Sci-Character that is specced for support with the command spec and command modules. Maybe 3 command modules (the resist reduction, the damage improvement and then there is a sweet one with +dam on flanc and +resist if not flancing) and grav field and a heal or hypo dylovene.

If there ever was some ground pvp still going this would turn it upside down ^^

I seriously can not understand how hard it can be to simply add some more training manuals to the rnd section.....

I suspect they are not doing it because they will be coming out with a different system to train 'premium' BO abilities that possible take more time and most certainly be more expensive.
