Well Rocky has already played the Pendari champion on Voyager so it wouldn't be his first ST appearance.

All honesty, I'm glad it went to someone other than Frakes (especially considering he directed the mess of a movie that was Star Trek: Insurrection). The movies have already established an identity, and to suddenly change it to satisfy Star Trek purists who got all their knickers in a twist over the first two movies is a terrible move.

Perhaps a Fast/Star Trek crossover with more gems like, "I think it's time to try some 'unsafe velocities'!".

I jest of course, or do I?????

I feel I might be in the minority here who, whilst I agree the new films are not classic Trek, I watched them and appreciated what they did manage (soundtracks were good, fun to watch in their way, Bones {but I would say that}).

I'll admit I thought I was going to have a photoepileptic seizure with lens flare though

The thing is this is all speculation. It may well turn out to be an awesome movie, plenty of action to keep new fans happy but also that core ST style from the old movies. I for one liked all of the F&F movies so you never know.
