DXGI error

Post by Imperium »

Has anyone ever run into this error code that pops up when my STO freezes and crashes to the desktop? It has appeared since I've used AMD in 290x trifire and attempted driver upgrades from Catalyst 14.4 (to 14.9, 14.11, and now the Omega driver). I've searched the Internet and seen other games cause this error crash to occur with both AMD and nVidia cards as well. I've attempted to use the solutions of others (start game in Safe mode, Run STO as Administrator, disabled Intel RST,)... no joy. I run STO as a standalone (installed from original disk, no ARC or Steam).

My machine is fairly bleeding edge; 32GB Gskill ram; ASUS Z97 mobo; sanDisk 960GB SSD with Win 8.1 64bit; Samsung 1TB Evo SSD for storage... my ASUS 295x2 and Sapphire VaporX 290x don't break 66C peak load temp in STO running trifire.

Suggestions??

Your rig might be TOO bleeding edge, haha. I'm not joking, either. My dual 6GD5 super rig gives me almost the exact same error, but is nVidia Experience related. I just finished building it a week ago (and consumed four years of savings to buy it all, haha) specifically to run on a 3x 4k monitor setup for playing Star Citizen. She's pretty. She's mean, but she won't play STO, LotRO, or Guild Wars 2, right now. Plays SWTOR, Elite, EVE, and Star Citizen's Arena Commander brilliantly, though.

My rig was designed with 4K in mind, although I just use a single 4k 28"monitor at the moment. I could play STO w/o problem if I revert back to Catalyst 14,4 from current 14.12.... stupid.

You rocking 4x 980s?

Is the omega driver released now then???

I'm wondering whether to try it or not, i don't want sto to pack up altogether.

Omega released last week. It seems to have stabilized my 4k flickering, it's great for everything else... and can upgrade quality of a non 4K monitor via supersampling

3x Titan Blacks HC'ed. It's a dual-purpose rig with a cloud storage array of network HDDs for saving CGI projects, too. I'm also on a mod team for Star Citizen that's huge and very ambitious. I'm also a former designer with Hard-Light.

Very nice... I have a rig with two Titans, though I must admit I haven't OC'd them hard. You use Precision or Afterburner to help with the OC? Custom liquid cooling?
