If you want to spend money on this game and buy a ship, go with T6 Intel ships all the way. They are better than the normal T6 ships, and much superior to the T5U ships.

Just getting started in Delta. Is a U5 or T6 necessary in PvE?

I've seen people in the Delta Quadrant in fleet ships without upgrading at all... I don't know how they are getting on though.
I did most of the content in a T5-U ship, some in a T6. Either of those will be fine.

I did it all in my T5 FAC. Never really needed to upgraded but you know me, always gotta push the limits.
