Oh, wait...

Yes, they based the fleet advanced off of the MVAE C-store boff setup...for no reason other than to annoy fans of the prometheus I suspect. But it is a well known problem that the 3x tac boff setup (Cmdr, Lt, Ens) falls far short of the 2x tac boff setup (Cmdr, Lt. Cmdr). The defiant gets around this because it still has the Cmdr and Lt. Cmdr, and you can just ignore the ensign, put something ridiculous in it, whatever. The fleet escort retro, the fleet defiant, and the fleet patrol are only ones that have the better boff setup. The fleet defiant, I believe cures the problem of the defiant retro by making that extraneous tac ensign boff a universal. So, IMO, with the 5th tac console and the superior boff layout, the fleet defiant is the superior ship at the business of doing damage. If you want more of a scrapper, you go with the fleet patrol or the fleet escort retrofit. The difference between fleet patrol and fleet escort retro is: 200 crew vs. 50 crew, and patrol has ensign universal, where escort retro has ensign engi. Honestly you will probably use the universal on the patrol as engi anyway, so the difference boils down to looks and 150 crew between the two. *shrugs* I will ignore the fleet advanced because of the bad boff layout without enough tradeoff, and the fleet HEC I will only consider if I get back into torpedo boats, the hangar makes the bad boff layout a good enough tradeoff.Forge04 wrote:So what is the difference between the patrol cannon boat and the MVAE cannon boat? Which is better and why?
Cause it was explained to me hat the ensign TAC boff gives you nothing. That's why the patrol is superior, more survivability.
