I appreciate the ideas! I will give some of them a try. I have to say I am skeptical for several reasons.

1. I had no trouble with this forum for the first few days I used it. Checking my post count, I would estimate my first 200 posts at least had no issues!

2. I have no issues anywhere else. Period.

3. I've had the computer shut off multiple times as it's been like this for about 7 days now.

4. Typing should not eat up the processor so it would seem this page is the culprit. I can literally access any other page I can think of using IE and there is no issue.

I do suspect processes are eating my processor speed. I just wonder why it doesn't show up anywhere else? Oh well, I will work on it! Thanks again!

This seems like a really odd problem. I find it weird that just this forum is giving you problems.
i remembered there is one more thing you could try. resetting internet explorer to its default state.
I have no idea if it would help. but might be worth a try.

Make sure you read what resetting it will do. in case it changes something you don't want changed.

to reset do this.

1: While inside internet explorer press "Alt" on your keyboard. (the menu on top is hidden in vista and windows 7. pressing alt displays it.)
2: Click on tools in located in the top of the browser.
3: Click Internet Options in that list.
4: In the new window click on the Advanced tab in the top right.
5: Click on the reset button in the bottom of the window.
6: Check the Personal Setings box to make sure you reset it as completly as you can.
7: click reset :)

So in theory this will make internet explorer like it was when you first got it.

these are the things it will not change. taken from the windows help on the subject.

As soon as you said the words default state, I thought about the compatibility view button at the top of Explorer. I've clicked on it just now and my problem seems to be solved. I know that every so often, this gets clicked by little hands (the kids). So either myself or someone else in the house has changed the compatibilty view that caused issues.

Thanks for all the responses. If things continue to work fine, then I consider this case closed!

I'm glad to hear you fixed it. :)
I did not even know there was such a button on explorer :p

I hope it stays working for you from now on.
