How did you hear about the 12th fleet? The official forums, in the fleet recruiting forum.

What made you interested in choosing the 12th fleet? In reading the charter, I have high hopes that I might fit in.

Primary STO interest (Mark all that apply to you):

(x1) solo PvE, (x2) Group PvE, (x4) Raiding, (x3) PVP

Have you ever played an MMORPG? If so, which one and how long: I will make a list to the best of my memory and in no particualr order. The list will be by name with cumulative playing time in months approximated.
Everquest 60. Everquest 2 4, Planetside 6, LOTRO 6, SWG 4, DAOC 3, Tabula Rasa 2, Earth and Beyond 2, Conan 2, Eve 8, WOW 40, Anarchy Online 4, City of Heroes/Villains 10, Champions Online 2, Warhammer Online 1.

------------------------------------------------------------------------

In a paragraph please explain how you will benefit the 12th fleet? I am fairly pleasant most of the time and have a long history of computer gaming as well as MMO gaming. Though I am not hard-core, I do add to the softer side of gaming. Hopefully, this is a good thing. I am capable of playing hardcore, but find that I've never found a guild or home that I could flourish in. I also have real life commmitments that sometimes keep me from being as available as most hard-core players, despite my desires to the contrary.

------------------------------------------------------------------------

Will you give your future division's Rear Admiral at least 3 days notice if you decide to resign? Yes, absolutely.

Some additional notes:

I have not commited to buying the game, though I am 99% certain I will. I just want to make everyone aware.

I consider myself a casual player. That doesn't mean I can't fill in and do more if the fleet needs me, just that I don't do many 12 hour sessions. I tend to get in a game and a few months later I'm leveling a handful of characters and my guild mates have all their mains half-way through end game content. I'm hoping for a more pleasant experience here.

Does anyone have strong feelings about which pre-order deal is the best? Keep in mind, I am North America.

Thanks for the consideration.

Welcome Arthur! Good to have you.

I would go with the D2D digital deluxe edition. I think it's the best preorder option.

I appreciate that! However, can you advise about D2D's track record? I actually have bought one piece of software from them over a year ago and what I remember is that I had the right to download it like 4 more times, unless I paid more for my game. I thought that stunk. I take it that you like D2D? Is it better? The same? Am I just a stickler without a cause? :D

Thanks!

Well actually I pre-ordered from Atari. That was before I knew that D2D also had a digital deluxe edition that came with everything from the Atari version + a personal shield. So I can't really say anything about D2D as a company but I'm positive some people here have pre-ordered from them so hopefully one of them will come by.

Good evening and welcome to the Fleet Mr. Pewty! Always good to see a new face, so to speak ;)

As far as best buy in North America, that is a matter of opinion. I went with Gamestop because I actually want a copy in my hand. The bonus I get is the Constitution Class ship. I am thinking of switching however to Amazon because the bonus they offer is a reclaimed Borg Officer for the bridge. It kind of depends on what you want to do and what you are looking to get out of the game.

I just checked the D2D site and they now offer the "download protection" for free. With the protection, they say you get unlimited downloads, though it sounds like you would need to call customer service once you exceed your downloads. I did not see the download number.

This is extremely important for those people that like to keep their hard-drive fresh and reinstall all software.

I hope Steam comes out with the same thing!

The model of distribution Steam offers is the best for me. Mjollnir, if you have a Steam account and buy a game, any computer you log in to can install that game from steam as a download. The only issue is internet access. Otherwise, you don't have to worry about losing a disk. Of course, if Steam goed bankrupt then I am SOL but I don't see that happening.

I simply don't have room for all my games that I've collected through the years. I've pitched most of them over time so the steam (and gog.com) are nice because I have access even if I move homes or change machines.

Having said all that, I think I like the D2D bonuses better. Still thinking about what I think I want to do.

Also at issue is a $25.00 Wal-Mart gift card and a $30.00 Amazon gift card that I wouldn't mind spending on a copy of STO.

What to do, what to do.....
