Wow! He certainly seems to know his Trek lore from the YouTube interview (https://youtu.be/rzNnfKT6IrM). I like the idea of not insisting that all seven of the lead crew members must take up a significant portion of the movie. Hope they can put a little more emphasis on character and less on car-chase type formula then the last one. 
Bet this is going to have a time paradox, based on the interview. With Tarantino you know it would have to be R-rated.
