Enterprise display

It's taken me a while to get around to doing it but I finally got my old micromachine Enterprises into the wee display box I bought. It's rough, I can't get the NX-01 and they're not the best models available. But all the Federation Enterprises up to E are there.

And yes I know it's a slight misquote.

Great concept Sabot.

If you ever decide to tweak the display, I'd consider taking the minis off of their stands and mounting them to the back of the case. i.e. a pin through the back going into the side of each model so that they are suspended. Also, perhaps staining the wood and filling in the white boarders of the top portion of the graphic?

Regardless, very cool idea, I dig it!

actually he could get away with a pin under the saucer and nacelles. but this would depend on the backing.

True.

And either way, by removing the stands, it would free up the space (don't bother pardoning the pun), below each ship to add a little placard or similar with the ship names, maybe the dates they were in service, or similar...

Sorry, Sabot, not trying to dismiss the work you have already put into this project, because it's already quite nifty, just spit-balling additional ideas.

Please feel free QorDaq. It's great to generate some conversation and there's been some good ideas. Just bare in mind I'm probably too lazy to do much. But loving the ideas. And who knows, I might pick up on some.

With the box colour, yeah I just wanted to get the thing done and couldn't be bothered painting it. The backing is, unfortunately the best I'm going the get. My printer just won't print to the edges of the paper and insisted on leaving a little white. :brickwall: Hey you should have seen the first version when it was running out of black ink.

Indeed, on most of that last. I have way more "Good Ideas" than I do finished projects...*Chuckle*...

That said, the background is likely the easiest update, as all you really need to do is reverse the image and print a second sheet, then trim the edges to the width you need to fill it in. That or increase the size of the image and print it in two parts and join them on the board, which would be the best method if you're careful and over print a little so that you can match up the second sheet. Of course at that point, since you'd be disassembling the thing anyway, you might as well stain it... Heh

Regardless, once again, it's a very simple but kickin' concept.

you can get away with using paper clips to suspend the wessels, but you'll need a cardboard backing to punch into to keep it the clip from rotating. corrugated cardboard would be best.

you'd be looking at 2 clips per model and a pair of needle nose pliers to bend and straighten the clips.

(remember i come from a warhammer 40k model building background)

Regarding the background, just get 2 more pieces of wood like the 2 supports in the lower part and slide them in. They will cover the white edges.
