Alex Kurtzman will serve as executive producer for the new Star Trek TV series. Kurtzman co-wrote and produced the blockbuster films Star Trek (2009) with Roberto Orci, and Star Trek Into Darkness (2013) with Orci and Damon Lindelof.
so its already doomed.

already getting a headache from the lensflares

Like any modern take on an old thing that I liked, I'm keeping my expectations low. It's a lesson I've learned over and over every time a new reboot comes out.

My excitement would be a bit higher if it was a no name heading this than a guy that worked on the new movies.

Anyways, we don't have any details yet so I'm not ready to write it off yet.

I saw that too. My biggest "Concerns" are that it's basically the Abrams Team running the proverbial show, which concerns me about continuity with what's come before.

Additionally, the show will be launched on CBS All Access which means 6 bucks a month AND Commercials... Which as a business model frustrates the piss out of me. Amazon and NetFlix manage to create original shows without commercials so can CBS in my opinion.

All of that said, I'll be curious to hear more about the setting and who else will be involved. The only clue they gave is that it would be new characters, so that could rule out the project Michael Dorn has been pushing for a while.

I also find it ironic that CBS has routinely turned down various pitches for a new Trek series based on not feeling that it's the right time... Now, all of a sudden, it is? Oh wait, now they have the Abrams Team don't they...*Shakes Head*...

I'll never forgive any of them for what they have done to Klingons in the Abrams-verse... I REALLY hope they do not stick to the design characteristics of the recent films...

So, I have not a few reservations about the project, but I'll wait to see what happens with it before actually passing judgement.

I'm not going to pass judgement, but I am interested in seeing how this turns out closer to. I'm apprehensive because of what's happened in the past with reboots. Hopefully this is a good thing, but I have a feeling it may well fall on its face.

I'll keep my expectations kinda low here for a few reasons:

- the Abrams team.....oh joy
- I have a feeling that they're gonna keep it in the abrams-verse which so far to me has been less Star Trek and more generic sci-fi action movie (although my understanding is that Nero's backstory in the comics was excellent, shame they never put it in there)
- Like QorDaq said, Klingons.....
- If any of the writers on there is the guy who came up with the idea to do a that DUMB MAGIC KHAN BLOOD REVIVAL we're gonna have deus ex machina's abound
- good chance that at least a good amount of the people working on it won't really care about or like Star Trek which could hurt the story
-as much as I love Star Trek, I don't have cable or sattelite so unless it's on the internet too it's impossible for me and this series is gonna have to prove to me it's worth the $6.99 a month I'd have to pay for it.
