Question before putting in an application

Hello all,

I'm considering putting in an application for membership op 12th Fleet. I live in the Netherlands, so perhaps I can get your US/EU ratio up a bit more ;)

The question:

How does things work with the Divisions? Which consequences will it have when I sign up for a certain division? Will I be limited by the fleet in-game, based on my division?

Greets,
Gildor

Hey there Gildor, welcome to the 12th fleet boards.

My best guess is that you are free to do what you want inside the game but you are expected to kind of choose your skills etc to fit within your division. (like not full science when you're in tactical) And most orders you'll get from your superiors will of course be within the job description of the division.

(someone please correct me if I'm wrong)

Hope to see another Dutchie soon within the ranks ;)

What's your gaming style?

Tank - Engineering
DPS - Tactical
Healing/repair - Science & Exploration
Ground combat - Maco
Meet & greet - Diplomacy
Sneaky - Intel

Thanks for the replies!

At first sight, Engineering (read: tanking) seems most appealing to me. I've played WoW for quite a long time as a Hunter (DPS), and I look forward to playing a more supporting role.

But what if it turns out that when the game comes out, I like, say, Science (healing) better. How much of a hassle is it to switch divisions?

Thanks for your time answering my questions.

Greets,
Gildor

You will be expected to be good at what you signed up for. As Cryptic said themselves you can pretty much be good at anything with your character by spending points on skills not related to your profession it just takes more time.
You will be asked to perform some tasks by high ranking officers related mostly to your division. These tasks should not take away much of your time unless you will become a high ranking officer yourself thus having a lot of responsibilities yourself.
The bottom line: this fleet is about fun and we would appreciate you in any case but even more so if you are a good engineer in engineering or medic in medical.

As far as switching between the divisions, I must say that it will be a possibility but depending on circumstances like balance between divisions and need for personnel in those divisions.
