Looks like the the USS Enterprise will be making it's final voyage before Deactivation and fuel removal. Unfortunately this ship will be destined for the scrap yard.

Looking forward to seeing what ship will be named Enterprise in the future!

I served aboard the Enterprise as a reactor operator. It'll be sad to see her go, but her time has definitely come. The maintenance required to keep her operational is getting too much to conitnue the life. She's had a long life though, over 50 years in the Navy.

I cannot understand why the US navy insists on naming its carriers after people instead of traditional names...

Sad to see the "Big E" go. She served a long time and anyone who crewed her should be proud :bolian:

Tradition must've started somewhere.

Apparently, they are naming the second Ford-class the Kennedy. Maybe the third will be the Enterprise?

I agree with the naming... I would love to see carriers harkening back to the names of Enterprise, Hornet, Ranger, Yorktown, Intrepid, etc...

no. you tow her ass to san diego and turn her into a museum. why should new york get the only one. or better yet scuttle her so we can have an underwater museum "the wonderful world of corrosion"
