The 12th Fleet: Starbase Valhalla

I have a strange issue going on that I need to address. Since I loaded the closed beta client last Friday, this forum runs very slow. What happens is that when I type a message like this one, I have to wait for the letters to catch up. The text I type is only displayed at a rate of maybe 2 or 3 characters per second. WIth the task manager open, typing uses 100% system resource! When the text is done displaying, the CPU drops back to normal low levels of use.

I am work right now and have no issue, nor have I seen anyone else mention an issue. Therefore I wonder what I've done to my machine. I did delete some old games that were taking up space in order to have a little more free drive when I ran the defragmenter last time. I'm wondering if there's something I deleted by accident, or some spyware I picked up in the last couple of days. The computer seems O.K. and unchanged otherwise. It's just when typing on this forum!

I also need to relay that I've been less active due to this issue since replying to posts is most aggravating and time consuming. The 5 minutes I took at work to post this probably would have taken at least 10 at home, if not more.

What kind of issue can I be having? Help!

I also have this issue from time to time.

The text typing gets really "laggy" and have to wait for it to catch up.

Also, when writing long posts, there comes a point where every time I type anything, it keeps sending me back to the top of the post.

Which browser are you using?

Works fine for me.

The forums have been very laggy in general in the PM time of the states.

Never had a problem here. Maybe move over to Firefox or Chrome. Plus you will find using something like Chrome will speed your comp up compared to bloated browsers like IE

I have this problem when I have the game open too, I don't know if that has anything to do with it. It's laggy now lol

I have experienced this my self before. It's been awhile though. years most probably.

For me it was a program using most of my system resources.
I don't think this only applies to this forum. Have you tried typing in notepad or anywhere else?
If it is just in this forum I would sugest trying a different browser. I would always recomend firefox. I normaly dont have any problems with it.
It can use alot of memory though. Atleast for me it does, but then again I normaly have 40 ish tabs open at all times.
Chrome could also be a good browser. I did not like it much personally, but you might.

I would also try rebooting the computer if you havent done so. If you are using a laptop make sure you shut it down
and that your are not going into hybernation mode. If you just close the lid you won't actually shut the computer down.

Disabling any software that runs in the background might help too. shutting down anti virus software and firewalls. But remember to turn them back on after testing!
