Depends? If you purchased a Vista computer after June 24th I believe? then you can get a free Windows 7 upgrade. If not, then it is $119.99 Home, $199.99 Professional, and $219.99 UltimateLordOfMadness wrote:How much is windows 7 anyway? I am really thinking about picking it up I hear it has some nice drivers and does less drain on RAM.

How much? Let's just say you might as well buy a new PC, it'll come with Windows 7 - and you'll feel better about it. And by 'you'll feel better about it,' I mean it won't feel so much like you were just physically violated in a sexual manner.LordOfMadness wrote:How much is windows 7 anyway? Hehe. Yeah I will just have to wait another year or so for an upgrade with those costs. Dang software costs are just crazy.Morgan794 wrote:How much? Most universities (at least in California) have heavily discounted software available to students at the on campus store or library.

When I was in school I picked up a fully licensed copy of Windows XP Professional SP1 for a little over a hundred bucks. Full retail price at the time was 450! Try your school bookstore.
Note that it's an Academic License and it is in fact a full license owned by you: it's not OEM. Which means no hassles in terms of installing it on different or upgraded computers.
Speaking of XP, I kept using that OS and, like many skipped Vista entirely. But I heard such good things about Windows 7 from its Beta both word of mouth from friends and in the tech press that I was an early adopter.
An early adopter of a Microsoft OS.
Usually you'd question my sanity but Windows 7 is actually...win. Been using it since release and it's hummed along nicely. It actually is a new and improved Windows. I know, I know! It sounds crazy, but it's true: if you are still using XP, switch to Win 7 and you incidentally also triple or quadrupal your RAM. My 8 gigs stood me in good stead during the crazy EoB event I can tell you.
