Based on the conversion results in this STO forum thread, I think everyone should trade-in/convert all their non-EDCs, leaving some depending on how many OM you want a "head start" with (#s for BNPs were before a buff, so they are low in the below... the actual amount seems to be like 1-3 more):

9 EDCs = 500 OM / 3 BNP / 0 Dil
10 EDCs = 1000 OM / 5 BNP / 0 Dil
29 EDCs = 1500 OM / 7 BNP / 1000 Dil
149 EDCs = 2500 OM / 11 BNP / 3000 Dil
249 EDCs = 3000 OM / 13 BNP / 4000 Dil
349 EDCs = 3500 OM / 13 BNP / 4000 Dil

The EDCs #s above are on the "high-end" for each reward, i.e. you might only need somewhere between 11 to 28 EDCs to get the 1500 OM tier, but it's not tested yet, so 29 is the "safe" number.

The only consideration I'm left with is if I rather have Mk X ground sets now for by BOffs (at 60 EDCs each set) or let the EDCs get converted to put toward getting the ground sets later (which would cost 750 OM and 10.5k Dil per set).

A few other conversion points from one of my newer alts:

13 EDC / 5 Rare Salvage = 1000 OM / 6 BNP / 0 Dil
14 EDC / 5 Rare Salvage = 1000 OM / 6 BNP / 0 Dil
15 EDC / 5 Rare Salvage = 1500 OM / 8 BNP / 1000 Dil [seems to be the equivalent of 20 EDC based on a comment I saw in-game]
17 EDC / 5 Rare Salvage / 1 Rare Tech = 1500 OM / 8 BNP / 1000 Dil
19 EDC / 5 Rare Salvage / 1 Rare Tech / 2 Very Rare Salvage = 1500 OM / 8 BNP / 1000 Dil
21 EDC / 5 Rare Salvage / 1 Rare Tech / 3 Very Rare Salvage = 1500 OM / 8 BNP / 1000 Dil

So my earlier post with the 29 EDC amount for 1500 OM seems to be as low as 20 EDC... good, less last minute grinding for me!

EDIT: And the truth has been revealed:
The STF currencies have been converted by assigning them a certain point value:
EDC = 1 point
Rare Borg Salvage = 1 point
Prototype Borg Salvage = 1 point
Common Borg Tech = 2 points
Rare Borg Tech = 4 points
Prototype Borg Tech = 8 points

The total you have is added up and placed in a bin, for various sizes.

Bin 1 (1-4 Points) : 250 OM / 2 BNP
Bin 2 (5-9 Points) : 500 OM / 4 BNP
Bin 3 (10-19 Points) : 1000 OM / 6 BNP
Bin 4 (20-79 Points) : 1500 OM / 8 BNP / 1000 dilithium ore
Bin 5 (80-139 Points) : 2000 OM / 10 BNP / 2000 dilithium ore
Bin 6 (140-199 Points) : 2500 OM / 12 BNP / 3000 dilithium ore
Bin 7 (200-399 Points) : 3000 OM / 14 BNP / 4000 dilithium ore
Bin 8 (400-599 Points) : 3500 OM / 16 BNP / 8000 dilithium ore
Bin 9 (600-799 Points) : 4000 OM / 18 BNP / 16000 dilithium ore
Bin 10 (800-999 Points) : 4500 OM / 20 BNP / 24000 dilithium ore
Bin 11 (1000+ Points) : 5000 OM / 22 BNP / 32000 dilithium ore
There are additional bins that unlock in 1000 Omega Mark and 8000 dilithium ore increments but the BNP number is hard-capped.

The Dilithium cost associated with Reassignments has been increased:

White to Green: Now 500 Dilithium
Green to Blue: Now 2500 Dilithium
Blue to Purple: Now 5000 Dilithium

from the patch notes

WHAT IN THE F*

Did Cryptic went insane?

The "General Recruitment" assignment available on both faction Academy zones has been altered:

Duration increased from 20 hours to 48 hours.
The cooldown is unchanged.
An input cost of 1000 Dilithium has been added.

Conversion calculator: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc ... NMlE#gid=0

Not 100% right, but better than nothing. The creator said it was over 90% correct, with most of the errors happening at the lower tiers.

Version 1.0 of that converter seemed much more accurate to me (compared to my personal results)... v1.2 that's on Google Docs now is off, but like you said Cassie, it's more noticable on the lower tiers... like my conversion results a couple posts up are way too high in the converter: 13 EDCs and 5 Rare Salvage spews out T5 (2000 OM) compared to T3 (1000 OM) I actually got.

Holy Dilithium Sink, Batman! Now I'm sorry that I didn't do all the conversions that I possibly could have. The dream of an all-purple doff collection is now a bit further off...

Holy crap, are they trying to slow down the doff grinders?

I'm honestly not *too* fussed on this change. We didn't have the grinder initially, and I built my crew and progressed through everything except the last 30k of recruitment without it (and it's a pretty good crew if I do say so myself).

It's a bad change, but the dramatics about it destroying the doff system and grinding fleets to a halt are the silliest thing I've heard since my father in law spent all of thanks giving dinner explaining why the NFL would be bankrupt in five years because they moved kickoff line up to the 35.
