Does anyone know if players in the closed beta will be given open beta access or should I switch my pre-order from gamestop to amazon.

You know CO was like that (if you had Closed Beta access you went into Open Beta). Of course this time around it could be different. I don't know. I would almost guarantee that GameStop will be getting full beta access too. I can't see why they'd be left out (they're more popular for games than Amazon).

Don't base your order on "Open Beta". everyone is allowed into it hence the word "open"

Well that wasn't the case for CO. Cryptic only allowed those who pre-order from specific retailers access to Open Beta. They didn't just open the doors for everyone.

You can through GameStop or Amazon... but the shipping will be outrageous. I'd wait for Play.com and the UK/EU sites to get their pre-orders up.

Really? Interesting, I have participated in many closed and open beta's and cannot remember a company not allowing everyone in on Open Beta. I did not participate in CO Open Beta.

But let me point this out, by definition, the phrase "open beta' means that all are invited to participate. So, if Cyrptic did not allow everyone access to their open beta, then it was not really that....it was still a limited access beta.

There were countless threads (hundreds I would say) that voiced opinions and complaints over Cryptics definition of "Open" Beta. Of course it's open in the sense that if you purchased from the correct retailer, you got in. But it wasn't available on their site for download without first pre-ordering.

Like I said, a thousand threads/posts later and a lot of disgruntled people... CO is back on track. It was a rough release for a number of issues. I'm hoping that they learned their lesson and are going a different route. This is why I'm so adamant about waiting for the pre-order details.
