You know... the worst part about using Windows 10 after using Windows 8.1 for so long is training yourself not to move your mouse to the right side of the screen to get to everything...

Cortana on the Desktop is pretty useful though.. been liking that addition.

Does Microsoft slip any advertisements in to Windows 10 since they are giving this away for free to existing windows users?

To my understanding there are 2 versions:

normal Version is going to people who have Home and premium versions of windows 7, 8 and 8.1

Windows 10 Pro is going to people who have Professional and ultimate editions of Windows 7, 8 & 8.1

Is that right?

Pretty much if you have any version of Home you get the Home version of Window 10, and likewise if you have Pro or Ultimate, you get the Pro version

Yes, solitaire is now a freemium game with adverts. There's probably more places this has happened too but that's the only one i know atm.

Yes, windows store items (apps) some have ads in them but thats the same in windows 8. Windows 10 itself has no ads.

I'm always amazed that people feel better paying $200+ for a piece of software than getting it free.

I guess the case could be made that they are looking for a catch or don't want to be ripped off. I say that charging $200 or more for a piece of software was ripping people off...

Well there is a catch, its only free for the computer you install it on, if you change enough hardware that it triggers activation, you will need to buy it (after the 1 year is up anyway).
