Long ago on a wind wept outcropping perched above the cold uncaring waters stood a long figure in silent vigil. There he cast a digitalcopy of SimCity onto the wind to be carried to the rocky water below and vowed, "Never again, never will I give EA another dollar of my money. For too long they have robbed, deceived, misled, and brutalized their customers and we have taken it. For too long have they taken the IPs we loved the the publishers that make great games and butchered them, abused them, and forced them to work under tyranny." Taking a breath the lone figure gazes out on the turbulent ocean. "Though I may miss great games and though it will be no more difference than a single person refusing a drink from this vast ocean. NEVER AGAIN... will I allow this evil upon me."
The moral of the story is EA is evil but they own a lot of great IPs. You can either forgive transgressions and continue to buy their products knowing they will screw up as often as they succeed but will likely correct mistakes after launch then merc out DLCs to you and continue using Origin and exclusivity rules for their products, or you can join me and say no more. Even free is too expensive for an EA game if I have to use Origin. Any company that has to spend so much on image and deceptive marketing knows they have done a lot of wrong and plan to disregard any negative aspects of that and pay people to promote them under the guise of fans and customers... To this I say no more. My stance is not the result of any single transgression but the culmination of over two decades worth or mismanagement and terrible crimes against the gaming industry. So next time you buy a game published or affiliated with EA remember that you are promoting the evil they propagate in the gaming industry.
I was going to include some references, links, and personal experiences from respected members of the game development community but there are soo fricking many. So if you want a reference go to google and type in "EA (insert and words and have fun)" Most of the links are from credible are validated sources. I will end my rant with a link to an old but true article from 2012.
