1) certainly more than what it is costing now.

2) since Cryptic's priority is getting new stuff out and not fixing what's already in the game, who knows?

So the 100'ish boffs I have stored in the mail suddenly get totally useless... great. Would love to see boffs retain the ability to train other boffs (now that would be nice).

The system itself sounds really good, the ability to have most boff powers on my boffs (now I just need more missions where I actually use boffs on ground :( , is something I have wanted for a long time and also helps with the intel boffs (new spec incoming in the next few months with new spec ships for even more dil need anyone?

BUT:

Another Dil sink stinks
Condemning my surplus boffs to be competly useless

also I know not topic related...

BUt has anyone ever seen any pvp queues run in the past months?

Over a year before it works correctly going by how broken crafting still is and all the other bugs.

I haven't played in a while but from what I hear, the few remaining dedicated PvP'ers mostly organize matches between themselves.

Well... at least we now know how you will get more than C-Store purple Intel/Specialization Boffs...

Adding a Dil cost, not really surprised, but I would have hoped that they had implemented it like the did the upgrade system, with the Dil cost coming when you apply the manual to the Bridge Officer and not when creating it...

Overall though... Bridge Officers just got a whole lot more expensive... at least at the higher end. I can't remember if they talked about how much the manuals you will buy from the vendor cost, but I'm sure it will be more than the 300 or so EC it costs to train someone in the non-captain trainable stuff...

Ive been looking over the changes to the icons that theyre claiming will help players identify the abilities better. And Im not really seeing any significant difference to most of them.

It just looks like someone felt like updating them and now theyre trying to sell the 'we did this because you guys needed it without knowing you needed it' angle.

If there is one thing I can truly say in favor of this, or at least the direction things "Appear" to be going; it's that having a core group of 5-8 Boffs that can be trained to do more than 4 things, really makes me happy... If that is what we are looking at, in which case spending the Dilithium to add more personality to otherwise throw-away BOffs could be acceptable in the long run if it means starting to think of them as my actual Bridge Team. Might even start naming them...Doh!

Not pleased overall with another Dil sink though.

And it also removes some of the social aspect of training each other's Bridge Officers. Though some of that may still exist in the new format if I understand it correctly.

We'll have to wait to see what it actually looks like, and I'll reserve my opinion until we do, but it could be a good move for expanding the Star Trek feel of having an Alpha-shift group of Bridge Officers to serve with.

maj!

As someone how has 20+ Boffs and bought many expansion slots for them.... where is my cryptic trollface icon?

Now all you need is 1 or 2 boffs of every profession max. Sure it will help me be more flexible and retain those rare space abilities (Too bad I have 10 Boffs already with Infiltrator and Sup Rom Operation... that change was a tad too late for me to save the ec for my duplicates just because I wanted to swap skills easily.)

I am really annoyed tough at the prospect that my surplus boffs cant train some other boff anymore. I had a good stock of bofs with Torp Spread III, BO III etc just in case.

Also I have the feeling I am loosing a bit of the "soul" of my Bridge Officers, because I know Satra is my Science Officer and had all the Science related abilities for ground and space and Dohel is my Medic who I always took down to ground for all my healing needs.

Same as D'Dex as my chief engineer. Now they can do everything and that will have the consequence of some of them being permanently benched.

Yes call me crazy, but I did name most of my Boffs and took quit some time with customisation and their appearance because I liked to have Boffs that were more than just abilities on my action bar.

I think you'll still be able to do that if you want...but it gives you more flexibility around your "core" team. I have a similar setup with two of my engineer boffs: one of them is a long-range support engineer, and is meant to stay in the back of the pack, and the other is more a melee engineer and should get right in there. And their appearance is customised to match...I know mostly the distinction is in my head, but even with the new ability to train, I will probably keep their skills separate because that's how I prefer to think of them.

I actually think this could be a good move for the game, and make it easier to play for newbies...But without making mastering it too easy for vets.

It looks like the damage boosting traits are all broken now. Pirate, Space Warfare Specialist and Superior Romulan Operative all stopped working for me.
