So just when I think I'm done with my writeup for No Win Scenario they go and change things >:/
Ah well, just means some more testing for me.
Anyways, its been a while since our last event so I'd like to start talking about the next one. For us, anytime in August would be ideal which gives us plenty of planning time but thats not set in stone and I can move some things around on our side if needed. Also wondering what you chaps would like to do.

Re: Greetings from {UFP}
Sounds great... I know you've been working with Vorden and Brently, but I'd be happy to help you get this scheduled soon... how about lets do something on or around AUG-19 or AUG-26... our calendar looks fairly good on those weekends. My personal preference between the two would be the weekend of the 26th.
What type of event would you like... how about some mixed shuttle PvP and/or a shuttle race? (just trying to think of something different and fun) We are open to what ever you think your fleet would like.

Re: Greetings from {UFP}
26th would be ideal for us too
Now, I've either had a stroke of genius, or just a stroke but this idea came to me...
TREKKEN
The King of the Iron Ship Tournament
(See what I did there XD)
Bear with me on this
The idea is to hold a regular (perhaps quarterly) large scale and reasonably lengthy PvP match. To make things interesting we'll keep a record of the outcome both of the teams and individuals performance. My thinking is that this would bring in an element of friendly competition and create some tight, exciting matches. Making it a regular feature would give our interested members something to look forward to, and help them make sure they're available but it doesnt have to be the same people in each team every time. From time to time we can also mix things up, like a "Shuttle Special" as you've mentioned.
We can also do one off events too but I really like the idea of setting up a regular event.
Let me know what you think

Sure.... in that case, lets just set up a 'ladder' tourney... we've kidded that around as well.{UFP}Collier wrote:26th would be ideal for us too

To set that up, I'd just need to have someone on your end as a 'host', and we'll get one from this side. DIP could update the results as they come in. (I'll volunteer for that part)...
Is this the type of thing yo are thinking?
Example Rules for that type of event are:
TREKKING-OF-THE-HILL
Standard Ladder Rules - Solo Player/Teams
• This is for fun - so let's "play nice". This is the honor system - we will not tolerate lying, cheating or personal abuse of another STO community member (the one 'behind' the characters). Infractions of this first rule should be reported to the tournament manager or your fleet diplomatic department and will dealt with immediately.
• A player/team may challenge one or two spots up the ladder.
• If the challenger wins, outright or by forfeit, the two will switch places on the ladder
• Players will play no more than two matches at a time: one as a challenger, and one defending a challenge.
• If you challenge and win you will swap places other player. If a loss or draw (both players withdraw before a winner can be determined due to some unforeseeable circumstance), than there is no change.
STO-12th Fleet Ladder Rules
• All games are played in private PvP "challenge" areas. When a consensus on which map to use cannot be reached, the challenger may select the map.
• Matches will be played until such a time until a player has five kills making him the winner.
• Failure to accept a valid challenge constitutes a forfeit
• A player cannot play consecutive matches against the same opponent
• When posting a valid challenge, please remind your opponent
(using @name to email from within STO - this will be called a "PM") which division (team/player) ladder the challenge is for. In the case of team matches, the team leader will be notified and responsible for communication with his team.
• If you will be unable to accept challenges for a period of time,
please schedule a vacation by PMing the ladder tournament manager (TM)
• Once a valid challenge has been made, the match needs to be completed within three days. The winning player reports the match results to the TM. In the case of a 'draw', then the higher 'rung' player reports to the TM.
• Match size: 1 on 1 (Player) or 3 on 3 (Team)
• New players/teams enter at the bottom of the ladder.
• Any player is not on 'vacation" and who fails to respond to a valid challenge, will be removed from the ladder if no reply is received by within one week.
• While the ladder tournament is running, you must issue a challenge at least once every week.

Re: Greetings from {UFP}
To expand the pool of players, I'd also suggest inviting 3rd Fleet and perhaps Jupiter.
Could be fun!

Re: Greetings from {UFP}
Thats so much better than my idea o.o
I'll post this up on our side to see what our members think and I'd be happy to keep things updated on our side and I can make all the relevant posts/calandar updates asI'm an event officer too.
I love it though, having the players challenge and report their own matches would be really helpful too. Also like the idea of getting 3rd and maybe more fleets involved.

Re: Greetings from {UFP}
Our guys decided like the idea of a 'challenge' ladder, rather than a straight PVP. I'm OK either way... if we did it as a "Challenge" it would look like this...
The Iron Captain Event
So what is a Challenge Ladder? This is very much like any other ladder tournament, but in this case we trying to encourage A LARGE variety of interactions between our allies and friends from other fleets. Once a new challenge event is given by the tournament manager (TM) (examples could be PvP Space, PvP Ground, Shuttle Races, Tribble Tosses (or whatever else we decide to think of), the players have three weeks to resolve their challenges.
After the Challenge Event is over, the ladder is updated, rankings assigned, and then a new round begins!

• Match size: 1 on 1 (Player) PLEASE NOTE: There is a chance we may 'challenge' you to form a team of three (with you as the leader) for some special events. If so, the details will be provided at that time.
• New players enter at the bottom of the ladder.
• Any player is not on 'vacation" and who fails to respond to a valid challenge, will be removed from the ladder if no reply is received by within one week.
• While the ladder tournament is running, you must issue a challenge at least once every week.
Ratings
Ratings based on performance will be published for use in future tournaments using an ELO system.
• The TM's decision on all challenges and rule calls are final.
**************
So... For example,
Challenge 1 (first three weeks) could be a 1-on-1 PvP,
Challenge 2 (one week is off, then the second three more weeks) could be a shuttle race,
Challenge 3 (one week is off, then the third three more weeks) could be a ground death match with swords,
... and so on and on and on
Do you guys like this better, or do you want to keep it straight PvP. We thought this might provide more interactions for a broader group of STO activity. (meaning, its might get more players)
Thoughts?

Not fair for UFP, Volen.
1v1 against my Lance... You're just setting them up to fail. It'll just be a 1-shot-rofl event.
And before JJ comes in and beats me to it - yes, that is what she said.

Re: Greetings from {UFP}
Hi, sorry for not coming back sooner, been having discussions about this with our guys.
based on the response, I'm not expecting a huge initial turnout but that participants will build up gradually, therefore I feel the more fleets involved, the better. Also the 1v1 approach is being favoured over teams to make it easier for people to respond to challenges regularly. I reckon we should attempt to set this up and see where it takes us.
And my response to the above bravado is, if you think that thing could so much as tickle my hull, bring it
