wireless means include satellite, TDMA, GSM, GPRS, WI-FI, and many others... but yes if it's your only options go for it... i used satellite connection in North Africa and sand storm was my enemy... it would ruin my connection, my camp in desert and gave me a hell of time to find my sand buried stuff!

:( :(

I am now actually getting nervous about getting the device.

Maybe I should just continue to wait for STO to come out then I can return the device with in the first 30 days if it does not work good enough.

But then of course I will be out of internet until STO goes live. :(

I wish i could help with the plan question of hiring verizon or not... i don't live in the U.S. so can't help you. i would say test their system and their plans. if it doesn't feat your need it would be easy to cancel by saying that their product doesn't feat your requirement.

Simplest method would be to call Verizon and ask a rep. Of course, they're in it for the sale, but still... they'd know best

Yea gotta be careful with the data limits i know Verizon has a data limit per month ( or atleast they did like half a year ago when my bro got one) then the charge you up the ass if you go over it its like 20gb i think?

Other then that he loves his never has a problem i was thinking of getting one but I know id blow the data limit on it atleast half the months out of the year

Don't know about the US connections but playing online (at least WoW) over UMTS is a royal pain in the ass because of the high latency times. And playing over open WLAN connections is to risky for me.

Ok so here is my update.

I bought the Verison Mobile USB Device and it is almost just as slow at loading up pages as my dial up. :(

I only seem to get like half a bar of signal out here. :( I think I may need to return it. :( Save my self some money and just move to town. lol Im not sure what to do now.

I was going to get satelite internet, but that requires me to sign a two yr contract and then I am stuck living at this house. :( that is why I went with Verison. But if this is the best signal I can get than it is not worth it.

as far as i understand, satellite broadband can be accessed anywhere in the world (within reason) and has speeds of up to and over 20mb - it is however rather more expensive than ADSL connections, therefore many people get cable instead, resulting in fewer companies providing it. I will be switching to sat as soon as it becomes available in my area ;)

Hmm, I'n not sure if you get decend latencys with a satelite connection.. Besides I never figured out why people need more than 20 MBit of speed. There are few servers that give you the max bandwith..
