agreed wish they would stop This direction they are taking. It is turning me away from trek a lot. It is not what trek was meant to be I feel.

I loved the new Star Wars movie. I always preferred trek but seems Star Wars
Is trying to stay true to their roots more so.

Where have all the good writers gone. They trade out good script with plot and story for flashy lights and loud noises.

They haven't gone anywhere. Flashy lights and loud noises is what sells the most, and the money at the end trumps everything else.
That is why Axanar, or any other indie Star Trek movie, will be better than anything released by CBS: they are doing it because they love the franchise. We might not agree with the story they are trying to tell, but at least they respect the franchise much more.
