Lets hope theyre cleaning house because theyre tired of the back to back mishaps coming out of PR and Community Managers area.

For months now these people have posted information that was outdated or flat out misinformation about things revolving around the game. Causing a lot of backlash with the playerbase. From my point of view they were simply dialing it in every day showing up for a paycheck.

Im not in the least bit torn up about Smirk getting the boot. The guy seemed standoffish as a 'Community Manager'. Seemed like he rarely showed his face anywhere but the PWE Twitch Channel.
Looking at the big picture, no, I don't think it has anything to do with being aware of the PR situation. The one who tweeted the story worked on a game outside of Cryptic that, as far as I can tell perusing its forums, didn't have the issues STO or Cryptic has in this area (but somehow manages to have a more toxic community). Community and web posters across numerous games got the axe regardless of the community situations in the games they worked on.

Sadly, investors believe some really, really stupid things about PR that makes it exceptionally difficult for companies to actually deal with PR problems. It's actually quite amazing that the economy can make the rich richer with how stumbledrunk stupid the driving forces in so many industries are.

It looks more like cutting the people with the lowest ROI to boost next quarter projections, which could mean projections are down, or it could mean they're about to ask investors for a big lump of money (possibly that secret project at Cryptic that Stahl was put on is getting into crunch time) and want to give them a big number to make it look like a better deal.

That may be a possibility but they just cut 9 people from Neverwinter which is supposed to be dropping a new update (mod6) in April. Apparently it was supposed to be released earlier but got pushed back due to not meeting the deadline. Im not sure what to think. Im just hoping theres going to be some changes to STO that will keep me wanting to log in beyond a five minute clickfest.
