I like the new look.
Not only do some of them make sense, but it shows that the creators are still trying to improve STO. I say keep up the great work!

Re: New Bridge Officer Icons
More important things perhaps should be dominating the fix list....
That said, the new art is good. Little more consistent and logical. Never a bad thing. Honestly as well, most of the long term players know where each skill is, it isn't going to change our click/button progression much if at all.
I also like that I can now make a new set of nicknames for the icons.

I couldn't agree more, I wonder how much time was spent doing this...Dancamvet wrote:More important things perhaps should be dominating the fix list....
I too don't think it needed to be changed, I understand that some of the icons were obscure considering the ability, but they have not considered one major thing all human beings operate on and that is pattern recognition. I doesn't matter that they were not precise icons, we just know at a glance what is Hazzard Emitters or EPtW etc. It may not be a massive learning curve, but it could be the difference of completing an STF or not.

Now I'm going to go study my new icons...lol

Re: New Bridge Officer Icons
yay more um changes? for um what?!
On the other hand, I love the new Drop Kick and Sweeping Strike Icons
But really, I don't care since I do not map my gaming trough icons but trough buttons on my keyboard. I never really looked at the pictures of the abilities but my mind maps Drop Kick with ctrl+1 and sweeping strikes with 6... so not really any change for me other than the occasional glance at new pictures when my action bar gets screwed up again.
Also I am opening a betting pool on how many abilities cryptic will bug with this "minor" change

I'm liking the new ones, they look sleeker and you have a better idea of what they do. Though I have a feeling it'll take me a while to get used to them.

Re: New Bridge Officer Icons
Well from playing different MMOs for a while, there are always changes to the icons, not to say there are not MMOs that do not change them. As far as fixing bugs over this, well I would not think the art team (which I would assume are the ones that put the time in to make these) do much bug fixing since they are not the technical team. Normally there are multiple things going on at the same time, they may not be highlighted the same way as these; so stop bashing the people that do not deal with the bugs.
Yes there are a good number of bugs, but there will always be bugs old and new.
But I digress, I personally have no issue with the new icons, many make more sense to what they do. Also it can be helpful to people that are new to the game.

Re: New Bridge Officer Icons
I'm not sure I like the new ones any more than the old ones. Seems to me it feels like a waste of cryptics resources . But if it is what the player base want and get more players to play game I am all for it

I actually like these new icons. Some of them make a little more sense than the old ones.
