While I do expect to see some changes (like the light sabre) it's all going to be about how compelling a story JJ can tell. So far i haven't been impressed.
I just hope it does not go the way of Into Darkness.

Well, I for one liked the new star trek films. Cant wait for the new Star Wars movie, it looks like its going to be pretty decent.

Something about this just doesnt feel like its going to be the type of epic saga we've seen before.
People can complain about Episodes 1-3 but they at least are memorable and feel like a saga.
This feels much more like JJ doing what he did with Star Trek. Did a decent reboot but lost quite a bit of the flavor the originals had by infusing what he thinks is 'humorous' or entertaining. The Scene with the Storm Trooper freaking out and the close up shots of the Storm Troopers on the Drop Ship just seem out of place compared to the older movies.
