You have to remember that even though it may or may not air ON CBS, CBS still owns the rights to it. So if they are gonna please anyone it has to be them.

Strange I remember that exact same campaign being hosted on Kickstarter a few months back.

Yes, and it was moderately successful, but the producers explain on the website they need more cash.Eldiora wrote:Strange I remember that exact same campaign being hosted on Kickstarter a few months back.

Re: Star Trek: Renegades
It's a lot of money to spend on a chance of making a show. I think my chances of accidentally getting a JHAS out of the current lockbox has a higher chance of happening. There is no denying that people want a Star Trek series again. But, with all the big money being made on the new movies it's highly unlikely they'll go for it. They want something to attract that audience.
I think Gene's universe may best be left where it is. There are few people that can recreate it, I certainly don't want a old Star Trek actor from the original series fronting most of it. (No offense guys..).

I don't think the main intent is to get a show out of this, that's secondary. They're making and releasing another, higher quality, web released fan movie.

The first step for any project to have any potential is devotion and commitment to it. Walter Koenig clearly has that, so I have a bit of hope for it. Whether or not it takes off isn't necessarily up to them, but their passion will influence the color of the light that appears.

Re: Star Trek: Renegades
They have already made a film called children of (i dont relaly remember the tilte) It was not bad for being not supported by a big studio. I do think that stuff like that will hopefully carry Star Trek further into the next decades because apparently GRAND stuff like Star Trek is dead on TV (or pretty much any big sci fi series the last good one was bsg and that was cut short too)

granted to what we want as far as scifi goes is pretty much dead (those youngsters call us old school), I do have to give syfy some credit. they came out with lost girl and took the Canadian show continuum and brought it over. those two shows have a good size audience and even I'm a fan of them ( I wont mention defiance...its a good show but with the mmo tanking I give it one more season).
I would love a new star trek show and I think they should of gone with the series with voyager going back to the delta quad but that would require most of the cast to come back.
on a side note....any one else recognize a mythbuster in the cast??
