writing our own foundry missions

Post by Jonsouth »

Hi Is anyone any good at using the foundry to create missions, as a while ago I had the Idea of a series of missions where the basic Idea was the player was part of a advisor group embedded at the request of the Dominion to help fight a bigger threat due to Starfleets prior experience with the hostile aliens (either Borg, Iconians or Undine would work as Starfleet and the Kdf has extensive experience with this threat where as the Dominion doesn't) the group would be similar in concept to the groups of Soviet and American advisor's in the early stages of Vietnam war. Dominion justification would be that although the Dominion would eventually prevail against this race as it has stood for thousands of years (in their belief)it would be expedient to get outside help(similar to when Dominion teamed up with Starfleet to kill rogue Jem hadar and destroy the Iconian Gate the had captured in DS9 due to Starfleets prior experience with Iconian Technology in TNG) and could potentially help with hidden long term objectives (maybe a rogue element possibly led by the female changeling who was released from prison and returned to the Dominion in the facility 4208 mission believes that by drawing the Alpha Quadrant allies into a foreign war they can manipulate them for other goals) they may have. (would also be funny if a later Weyoon clone had been forced by Odo to ask/beg for federation help an that Odo has been using Weyoon clones as personal whipping boys doing all the really crappy assignments for years) However their would also be allot of Intrigue within the advisory group as no doubt Starfleet intelligence section 31 or anyone else wouldn't have their own agenda. I would like the series to have a darker tone with allot of intrigue (basically the player cannot trust anyone due to everyone having their own agendas and is basically trying to stay alive in the mixed of a dangerous enemy and supposed allies and team-mates who would betray them in an instant if it suited their own personal goals whilst the player is also trying to unravel these plots whilst also discovering secrets about the Dominion that have long bee hidden for example What if the changeling's didn't didn't found the dominion but were artificially created tools like the Jem hadar but the original founders didn't programme in obedience through addiction so the changeling's were able to stage a coup and distort history eradicating the knowledge of who went before especially as even in the great link it has been proved that knowledge can be hidden from an individual changeling and false infomation put in its place like when the link were able to hide the identity of changeling martok an convince odo that gowron was the changeling, and that because they had betrayed their creators that is why they were so determined with ketracel white addiction etc to make sure it didn't happen again) an be plot driven more akin to the later seasons of DS9 as opposed to the rest of the game which more closely follows Voyager in style (I admit it I preferred DS9 and though that Voyager occasionally reached mediocrity)
However I am more of a executive producer style than a using the editor and would like to work with a group of other fleet members so that we can collaborate on making the best foundry missions ever and actually creating these missions in similar way to the series itself with overreaching arcs good characters and well placed plot so If anyone has skills that can help me turn this crazy dream into a reality I would love to work with you :bolian:

figure out which faction you want to play the mission fed or kdf. if you want both factions playing it then you'll have to make two variants.

mission length. (believe the current system dictates 15-20min for it to be worth rewards)
number of unique characters.
number of locations.
mission start point.
Capt. JJJH Schimdt
Engineering Division Alpha Team
UFP 12th Fleet
USS Lusitania NCC-93015 Nebula Class

Patrolling

Infected/Cleared, Cure/Cleared, Kithomer Accord/Cleared, Terradome/Cleared
Foundry FED: Player Concept Housing*, Great Raid (part 1), Training Ground 2.0, Ultimate Deathmatch, Redshirt Zombie, All Hallows Eve

*Down for Repairs

I was thinking more of a mini series of mission maybe 5-6 seperate missions based out of DS9 each with a few separate locations as you move the plot along but with each new mission building on the previous one in terms of overarching story arc

I've tried to make a mission before but back then it was all too confusing for me. I was actually going to make a series of missions based on the storyline from Star Trek Legacy, thus involving all Captains starting with Archer. Even my foundry toon is called Archer. lol
