What is that mass of stuff between the observation deck and the secondary deflector?

And what are the vents to the sides of the secondary deflector?

Maybe have an upper one as an observation lounge , and the lower ( larger one ) as a location similar to ten forward on the Enterprise D

pretty sure those are transporter grids
But you don't see those on hull exterior after the sovereign class ( as far as I am aware )

Alrightly, although just bear in mind that it's about half as long as the sovereign, and an offensive-ish focused ship. In my mind, lot's of french windows feels more Risian pleasure craft (aka Galaxy Class) than a ship deserving of the name 'Recalcitrant'.

Well according to this schematic the vents are transporter emitter pads. As for the big mass of junk above the deflector, i couldn't find anything about it. Must just be a bunch of equipment left open for easy maintenance or something. Although the area that's behind the bridge is the same colour as the front and that's an upper sensor array.

Spoiler: show

This is true , but even the most militarily designed starfleet ship ( with the possible exception of the Defiant class ) has at least some crew comforts

That's what i mean, i think even the Prometheus had a mess hall and that was a long range tactical vessel. Saying that, even the Defiant had a mess hall with windows.

Fair enough, going to rebuild the main saucer again tomorrow, will add mess hall bits and the hatch for the eject mechanism. Somewhat strange that something like shield generators don't have obvious recesses or ports.

One could argue that the rectangular sections the hull is broken up into on most ships is part of the shield grid
