I was under the impression that closed beta people couldn't even say they were in closed beta. I guess this late in the game it doesn't really matter. Had me wondering if there was a wholesale acceptance or something. I'm still not accepted....

Here is a copy of an e-mail I sent to 4 Cryptic executives. First one 40+ minutes ago and the second one about 3 minutes ago. Before some of you flame me, understand that we ALL are paying customers. The majority of us have bought one or more copies of the game and we all plan on paying a monthly subscription which is recurring income for Cryptic. They need to listen. This downloading issue was the same with Champions, so it is being ignored

I emailed the following people:

Bruce Rogers, chief technology officer
Phil Dean, director of customer service
Shannon Posniewski, director of game programming
Craig Zinkievich, executive producer of Star Trek Online

First email:

Cryptic Team,

I wanted to express my frustration with the patching system for the current closed beta. I'm not the only one, please read the beta forums.I have been looking forward to playing the beta scheduled for 11:00am PST to 8:00Pm PST and as of 2:55PM PST my patcher is at 56%. I basically took the day off to watch my patcher patch for almost 4 hours now. I realize that I am not a "customer" yet but I have already bought 2 copies of the game (One for myself and one for my son) and plan on subscribing when subscription is available. I can't believe, a company of your size and located in the server capital of the USA can't allocate more bandwidth or find other solutions to solve this very aggravating problem which was the same for Champions as well. As of now, I missed 4 hours of beta testing and as a potential customer, I'm very unhappy. I'm assuming you are not like some MMO's and you actually care about your customers and their concerns.

I really hope this is not an indication of how the game is going to run when it goes live to paying subscribers.

I also wanted to add that I assume you can't correct the issue tonight but you might want to consider adding a couple of more hours to the beta tonight. There is a LOT of us still waiting to get in and time is running out.

FYI...My patcher is at 66% and my first e-mail was almost 40 minutes ago. That is 10% per 40 minutes. That calculates to 6.67 hours to download. Would you wait that long to get service at a fine restaurant or making a purchase at Best Buy or in the teller line at your local bank?....I don't think so. Also, for the tech's, I just tested my speed and I'm currently, with your patcher running, at 25.33 MP/s up and 3.05 MP/s down....6.67 hours to download....really?

FYi...at the time of this hitting the forums, I'm at 72%....just plain ridiculous!

Is there any where to download for the open beta yet? I cant find any links to download or are us OB players gonna have to download on the 12th and get 10 kb/s
