I want everyone to share their Captains and who they are to you; do they have a back story, what ship do they fly, and what is their current mission? Whatever you would like to share, don't be afraid to share any screenshots!

Just a little bit of a background story I was working on for my Captain...

"All hands, brace for impact!" Mariella 'Jangles' Jones yelled as the heavy plasma torpedo raced from the Borg cube. "Helm, evasive port, come to heading 213 mark 8."

At the Helm station, Lt Jensen's hands flew over the controls trying to coax the ship out of harm's way.

Commander T'var's calm, steady voice cut through the noise of the bridge, "Captain, our shields have been drained, activating Hazard Emitters."

The torpedo struck the hull of the USS Snowdonia amidships. The initial shockwave threw Jangles from her command chair. She called for a damage report as sparks from ruptured panels showered down around her. Engineer M'werl wiped blood from his fur as he delivered the grim news, "Shields are offline completely, structural integrity is at forty percent and falling fast."

Jangles wasted no time and activated the ship wide comm system, "All hands abandon ship, repeat, all hands abandon ship!" She then turned to T'var, "Notify the Hermes and the Winterfell of our situation and get to an escape pod."

Raising an eyebrow, T'var quizzed, "And what of you Captain?"

Jangles smiled grimly, "I'll be heading out as soon as I know the crew are away. Don't worry, old friend, I'm not going down with the ship, not today." As the bridge crew moved quickly to the ladder to deck two, she gave each one of them a wink of reassurance or a gentle squeeze on the shoulder. The ship shuddered around her from the impacts of Borg beam weapons. "Computer, notify me when remaining crew have evacuated." Without waiting for the computer to respond, Jangles climbed down the ladder.

Conduits and cables had ruptured and debris was littered all over the corridor as Jangles emerged from the access alcove. Smoke was thick in the air along with the tang of burning plastic. Moving quickly, she found an empty escape pod, activated it and climbed inside. The interior of the escape pod was cramped and dimly lit but Jangles managed to pull the restraints around herself and buckle them together before the computer announced, "Crew evacuation complete."

Jangles mashed the launch control and was pinned into her seat as the rockets fired. The escape pod was moving at full burn away from the stricken ship. "C'mon, c'mon." Jangles urged. The escape pod had reached a distance of two kilometres when the USS Snowdonia exploded. The shockwave tore into the tiny vessel mercilessly, tossing it far off course.

'Engines offline, life support offline, communications offline' droned the computer. Jangles wasn't worried about any of that, she was far more interested in the two foot length of support strut that had impaled her.

"Wonderful," she deadpanned as the world faded to black, "ruined my best uniform."

-----------------------

The first thing she became aware of was the pain. Not the sharp, bright pain that it had been in the escape pod when she was impaled by a support strut but the dull, persistent ache she normally associated with too much exercise. She opened her eyes to look around and immediately regretted it. The bright light that surrounded her pierced her eyes and started the mother of all headaches.

A voice she didn’t recognise spoke softly but firmly, “Mariella, you’re safe for now, keep your eyes closed for a moment.”

She picked out the words, ‘safe for now’ and wondered what was going on. Gentle hands moved her into a sitting position which hurt like hell. Mariella grimaced and hissed through her teeth. She felt something press against her neck and then the cool, blessed relief of a hypospray coursed through her body.

“You can open your eyes now, Mariella” the voice said.

Slowly, she opened her eyes and the blurry shapes around her resolved themselves into a sickbay. More importantly, a Starfleet sickbay. The voice belonged to a man in a medical blue uniform, “You’re quite the fighter, Mariella,” he said, “we only had to resuscitate you three times.”

She tried to speak but the words came out as a croak. The doctor brought a water tube to her mouth, “Sip, don’t gulp.” He ordered.

Cold water slipped down her throat and Mariella had never tasted anything so delicious. “What happened?” she managed.

“Your pod was brought aboard the USS Nightingale yesterday and we’ve had you in surgery for four hours repairing the damage. We managed to remove the strut that was sticking out of your abdomen and we’ve fused several cracked ribs and a fractured arm.” He explained patiently.

Sipping more water, Mariella found her voice getting stronger, “I sense a ‘but’ doctor.”

He smiled, “Very astute, Mariella. During the escape your pod was heavily damaged. The drive coolant leaked into the compartment and caused hypoxia as well as damage to your lungs and eyes. We’ve managed to heal the lung tissue but your left eye was badly hurt.”

“What are my options?” she asked, her voice trembling slightly.

“Relax, Mariella, you don’t need to lose your eye. We can implant components to replace the damaged parts so it will look exactly the same. You’ll even gain a measure of extra functionality although it won’t rival a fully cybernetic implant.”

She nodded slowly, absorbing the information and cataloguing her injuries. “Why am I safe ‘for now’?”

“Ah,” he said, “that will be because the fleet is still engaged with the Borg. We’re picking up survivors as and when we can until the area is cleared. Then we’ll be heading back to Earth Spacedock for repair and to transfer the wounded. The captain says we’ll be making way in a few hours.”

Mariella looked around noticing that the sickbay was especially full of casualties. “How many made it from my ship?”

A shadow passed across his face, “Perhaps when you’re stronger.”

Her voice took on a hardness that could have etched the hull, “Tell . .me . .now.”

He sighed sadly, “Very well Mariella, there were only twelve survivors from your ship.”

The words hit her like a physical blow, knocking the breath from her body. Twelve! Only twelve!

“The Borg fired on the escape pods before any ships could get near them to help.” He explained. “Also some of them didn’t clear the blast radius before the warp core breached.”

She gulped for air. Her crew, her friends, all gone in an instant. Names flashed through her head, little details that were so important. Ensign Martinez’s wife was expecting their second child on Bajor, Crewman Davidson had just gotten engaged to transporter chief Watson, she’d even attended their engagement party. The names kept resounding so strongly through her mind that she didn’t notice the tears streaking down her cheeks or the wracking sobs as they forced their way from her body. She didn’t notice that a gentle pair of arms had wrapped themselves around her shoulders and were rocking her gently until she had calmed slightly.

“Thank you.” She whispered.

“You’re welcome, Mariella.” He reached for another hypospray.

“What’s your name, doctor?”

He placed the hypospray against her carotid artery, “Christopher, Christopher Cushing.”

The name rang a bell in her mind but before she could remember where she knew it from, sleep claimed her.

nice writeup there welsh! right in the feels

heres mine:

main is a bajoran tac. grew up just as the federation was helping bajor out of its woes from the occupation. her parents were always off helping others rebuid and they themselves suffered under cardie rule. as such emiiko was left to her own devices far too often and learned to depend on noone but herself. taught herself how to use and maintain various weapons her parents had thought they had hidden away. after they died leavin her an orphan at 14 she had to totally fend for herself with occasion help from her friends. but as the way "friends" can sometimes be she felt like their action left a knife in her back 1 too many times. she turned inward; became angry and loathed everyone and everything.

till one day she had a chance meetin with ro laren who apparently saw something of herself in emiiko. they formed a loose friendship if you will and emiiko slightly came out of her darkness if only just a lil. she moved into some quarters on ds9 and ro began taching her things shed need to survive adulthood, helped her find skills and a possible career that could be of benefit. so she joined starfleet at the urging of ro and a few other prominent bajorans. tho she still is somewhat introverted and distrusting shes getting better. even has a cardassian bridge officer. someday she may even see her self as someone who can be considered like ro laren, troubled but gained much experience from it and can now help others

Well... Sanek is actually a long standing character for me. I'll simply cut and paste the data on my STO Character website about him and his origins.

Real World Background
-----Sanek actually has a very long history that began more than 20 years ago. The original incarnation and idea of the character started when I purchased the original Star Trek Role Playing Game (FASA, 2nd Edition, 1983). The STRPG had a fairly lengthy and somewhat complex character creation system, that eventually included actually rolling dice to determine the results of cadet cruises (the results of which could have a profound affect on the remainder of the characters careers). Thus, sometime in 1983 (the date of which has been forgotten), Sanek was rolled up and created as a pen and paper character.

-----Image - Sanek as a FASA STRPG Character: http://www.singularitycollective.org/STOCA/images/Sanek_STRPG.png

-----When creating the character, his cadet cruise rolls were all very lucky for the most part, and he was assigned to Constitution or Galaxy class starships throughout most of his cadet career. However, one roll was drastic, and ended up with him back at the Academy for a year. While this didn't necessarily mean bad marks or wrong doing on his part, the idea was formed that some sort of potential personality clash occurred during this cruise that caused the reassignment. Eventually the rolls were completed, and he was assigned to Galaxy Exploration Command as a Ship's Science Officer.
-----Unfortunately, Sanek never was actually used in any Star Trek role playing game experience, so he sat in the box for many years... unused, but never forgotten.

Star Trek Online - Sanek Reborn
-----With the release of Star Trek Online, the possibility of Sanek becoming a real online character was realized. I had purchased the Collector's Edition of Star Trek Online after taking part in the beta, and as such was able to begin playing two weeks earlier than general release. On the first day the game was open to the pre-release players, Sanek was born in electronic format.
-----The character creation system allowed for the creation of a character that looks strikingly similar to the original concept look of Sanek from 20 years prior. As the character progressed through the game, skills were chosen that closely reflected the original STRPG character sheet data, and eventually the character - game wise - resembled the original pen and paper character as closely as the game would allow.
-----It wasn't until I joined the Alpha Centauri Institute however that things really took off for Sanek. With the idea already in place for the character in question, a detailed biography was written based upon the original pen and paper ideas. That biography embellished the actual pen and paper character sheet's cadet cruise rolls, and allowed for the idea of a personality clash causing Sanek to be re-assigned to teach Physics at the Academy as the reason why his 7th cadet cruise ended so differently than the rest.
-----The end result was a Star Trek Online character that was finally realized in full almost 20 years after the fact.

Building a Personality
-----Sanek's personality had always been considered with specific ideas related to his philosophies and his attraction to science and mathematics, but it was the role-playing at the ACI, as well as the story arcs written about him and which involved him, that finally fully fleshed him out as the Vulcan he became. He was always solemn, soft spoken, and introspective - even for a Vulcan - but with Sanek it was more than all that which eventually defined his inner person... his philosophical nature and desire to understand the Universe, and his dedication to science and raw data in pursuit of that understanding. All of the role-playing done allowed that individual to be molded into the character that exists today as Sanek.
-----Sanek has always been deeply philosophical, but he became far more so once he began his ventures into the cosmos and began to study space. The deeper, and longer, his voyages into the unknown went, the deeper his philosophical ideas and convictions became.
----- In a very real sense he now feels he has no real home other than space. He's spent more time aboard starships and in deep space than he has on any planet in his life, and space has become the only place where he truly feels he belongs.

A Personal Note
-----Sanek in many ways is the person I always wished I could be. Quiet, supremely intelligent, highly educated, constantly searching and seeking answers to questions, driven by a feeling of oneness with space and the cosmos, eminently logical with the ability to make decisions without recourse based on facts and logic and not emotions. He is the culmination of years of character building and ideas, and considerable effort has gone into researching Vulcan history, background, and ideas to ensure that he is as "Vulcan" as he can be made to be.
-----Vulcans had always held a fascination to me ever since watching The Original Series. McCoy was generally my favorite character, but with Spock, and eventually the tidbits of Vulcan culture that emerged, there was something tantalizingly peaceful and philosophical that attracted me to Vulcan culture and philosophy. It was due to the admiration of Spock and this fascination with Vulcan culture that the idea of the character of Sanek was originally born.
-----Role-playing Sanek in Star Trek Online proved to be extremely challenging, as well as rewarding. Phrasing responses and conversation without any emotional verbiage or words that convey emotion is not easy to do, and it took several weeks of practice until I was able to do so without conscious thought... and even still it requires constant guard to ensure there are no mistakes.
-----But with Sanek it was even more difficult. Due to his personality trait of being as open as possible with facts, he frequently will speak in lengthy diatribes related to the subject at hand where scientific fact or analysis is concerned. I had additionally decided early on that Sanek's use of language would be precise, without typical slang, limited use of conjunctions, and without any contractions whatsoever. All of that made speaking as Sanek, particularly in live role-playing situations, very challenging.

Michael Bond has existed in various sims going back to 2002, but I didn't flesh out the character until I created a NU trek sim involving the USS Exeter in 2010 or thereabouts. His middle name is Alasdair, which was the name of my Shepard character from Mass Effect.

I've always been a James Bond fan, I was a Bond fan before I was a Star Trek fan. I always liked the thought of a 'Bondian" character in the Star Trek universe so when STO came out it was the perfect chance to make Michael a somewhat reality. Along with his first officer Sonak (who tragically died somewhere in ST:TMP) who I believe should be given a second chance of sorts. :)

If I had to describe Michael Bond, he'd be part Jonathan Archer and part James T. Kirk. An avid explorer who likes seeing what's out there, prefers first contact missions to combat, but definitely leaps before looking.

I also had ideas for descendants of Peter Kirk and Robert April, with the USS Yorktown, just to pay homage to Roddenberry's original ideas...but haven't done much with that.

Biography:

Tathlan (known to starfleet as Owyn Hunter) was born to Romulan parents Terek i'Mhiessan tr'Myllyl and his wife SHiarrael in November 2360 while the pair were masquerading as Vulcan scientists on Earth. While he was still an infant the pair were killed in a hover car accident . A Terran diplomatic aid, and her Starfleet Lieutenant husband were witnesses and rescued the infant from the wreckage, miraculously unscathed. He was taken to the local hospital as a precaution, and routine medical exams revealed he was, in fact, a Romulan.

Since the Romulans had closed off all contact with the Federation in 2311, no family could be located for the boy the pair took the boy as their own, naming him Owyn and raising him as their own. Sarah resigned her position at Federation Diplomacy while Nigel took a position at Starfleet Security in London England. Throughout his youth niether Sarah nor Nigel would tell him about his parents, or that he may have had family back on Romulus. Despite this he was a happy child and at the age of 5 they enrolled him in the Wellington School in Somerset. Being one of the few non humans at the school, he was subjected to an almost ruthless bullying till he reached his teens, when his enhanced strength and speed made him stand out on the Rugby pitch. At the age of 16 he enrolled in the Combined Cadet Force, to prepare him for Starfleet Academy and the rigors of life in Starfleet. During one of the many 3 day excursions the force took the Lieutenant Commander in charge of the Cadets suffered a massive heart attack. The Cadet in charge radiod for a medevac as Owyn and 2 other Cadets began CPR. As Owyn was doing compressions he was ordered to accompany the officer during the emergency beam out. He watched with fascination as the medical teams at Starfleet Medical took over. The officer survived and urged Owyn to apply to starfleet medical. He moved classes around and began taking the necessary classes to apply to Starfleet Medical.

He was accepted to Starfleet Medical in 2378. His freshman year was fairly uneventful, owing to the rigorous course load as well as officer training and evaluations. The years at Starfleet Medical were short, and seemed to pass extrordinarily fast and apon graduation he was commissioned a Lieutenant junior grade, as all graduates of Starfleet Medical are. He served at each post with distinction and by 2385 he was a full Lieutenant assigned as medical officer to the USS Delphyne an aging Excelsior-class refit under Captain K'beth. It was at this post that he would truly shine, being promoted to Lieutenant Commander and the Cheif medical officer a few scant months after being assigned there. In 2387 The Delphyne along with a sizable fleet was dispatched across the Neutral Zone to aid the Romulans after the destruction of their homeworld.

During the Mission Doctor Hunter would receive numerous citations and letters of commendations for his actions in treating wounded civilians as well as a Purple Heart for injuries sustained during the attack on the fleet by the heavily modified Romulan mining vessel Narada. He would also be promoted to full Commander. Through all this war with the Klingons loomed ever present.

Unbeknownst to Owyn, one of the Romulans he treated as part of the releif effort was his paternal Uncle, who now resided on one of the outlaying Romulan colonies. His uncle Saren has been a Commander in his youth, of the Romulan Warbird Alth'Indor (the romulan equivalent of a Phoenix.) His uncle had found Owyn bore a striking resembalace to Sarens brother Tevek who was Owyn's biological father. Saren beleive that Tathlan, Owyns Romulan name, had been killed along side Tevek and Shiarrael in the accident. In 2389 Saren contacted Owyn through diplomatic channels and began correspondance with him. Saren told Owyn of his biological parents, as well as his Romulan name, and other things about his family. In 2390 Owyn abruptly resigned his commission and flew in to Romulan space.

During the 22 years between Owyns dissapearence from Federation space and the discovery of New Romulus in 2409. He lived with his uncle and his family on one of the sparsely populated colony worlds. He took up his ancestral name Tathlan i'Mhiessan tr'Myllyl and helped around the colony. It was a peaceful, but hard life and he found his skills as a physician in high demand. During this time he would meet a young romulan woman named Aelfredia. The two would kindle a relationship, and would be married in 2401. In 2404 They would have their first child, a boy, named Khiy.

The peace wouldn't last and the Colony was attacked by Tal Shiar. The colonists fought back making use of the aging warbird and Saren's skills as a starship captain. The old ship was able to fight off the Tal Shiar, but not before most of the colonists were killed. Those that remained (both romulan and reman) turned to him and Saren. Knowing they could never return to the colony now that the Tal Shiar had their location, they boarded the Alth'Indor and fled joining up with D'tan and his Romulan Republic forces. Those that wanted too were allowed to settle on New Romulus, but most remained on the Warbird wanting to assist the republic in restoring their people.

Now, in 2409 Tathlan and the crew of the Alth'Indor have been sent by D'tan to assist the Federation with the emerging threats of the Borg, Undine and Voth.
