Well... Sanek is actually a long standing character for me. I'll simply cut and paste the data on my STO Character website about him and his origins.

Real World Background
-----Sanek actually has a very long history that began more than 20 years ago. The original incarnation and idea of the character started when I purchased the original Star Trek Role Playing Game (FASA, 2nd Edition, 1983). The STRPG had a fairly lengthy and somewhat complex character creation system, that eventually included actually rolling dice to determine the results of cadet cruises (the results of which could have a profound affect on the remainder of the characters careers). Thus, sometime in 1983 (the date of which has been forgotten), Sanek was rolled up and created as a pen and paper character.

I'll write mine up later today, but for now, I wanted to say that we have something in common--Michael Tyber began in my FASA STRPG days, back in high school in 1986.

I'm a FASA alum too. Original AND 2nd Editions!!

So, originally, Michael Robert Tyber was created in 1986 or so for the FASA RPG. I played him a few times, but the game never really got off the ground, so he went back in the pile. I resurrected him in the 1990s for fanfic as part of a ST club I belonged to at the time. Eventually that too faded away.

When I signed in to STO for the first time, I decided to use that character; but I updated his story to fit into the 25th century continuity. I did for a time consider making him a contemporary of Captain Sulu who got jumped forward in time like the U.S.S. Bozeman, but decided that might be a bit too much. So here's his current history:

NB: While Tyber speaks the Romulan language fluently, *I* do not, though I would if I had the time to devote to it. My love of Romulan Lore is pretty huge.

Race: Human
Gender: Male
Born: 26 May 2371
Career: Tactical
Training: Tactical: Helmsman/Fire Control
Rank: (Fleet) Ensign, (Starfleet) Captain
Currently Assigned to: 12th Fleet, Exploration, Gamma Squad
Vessel Currently Assigned to: U.S.S. Scotland

Height: 6'1"
Eye color: Blue
Hair color: Brown
Weight: 200 lbs

Born in 2371 on Deep Space Nine, Michael Robert Tyber was the son of Robert Tyber, a novelist, and Elissa Tyber, a Starfleet Officer stationed aboard Deep Space Nine. When the Dominion took DS9 at the beginning of the Dominion War, Elissa was transferred to the U.S.S. Hood. Robert and Elissa decided that living aboard a starship in the middle of a war was a bad idea for a child, and Robert took Michael back to Earth, the two settling in Robert's native England.

In 2374, Tyber's mother was killed in action during Operation Return, one of many who died on the U.S.S. Hood during the battle. He and his father remained in England, where he attended school, excelling in history and literature studies. However, his first love was the starship simulators he played constantly, as he dreamed of commanding a Starfleet vessel.

In 2387, Michael applied and was accepted to a position at Starfleet Academy in San Francisco. A class on Romulan history lead him to the writings of Terese Haleakala-Lobrutto, a deep-cover operative and senator in Romulan space. He learned the Rihan language. Consequently, he was tapped to aid in disaster relief when the Hobus supernova destroyed the Twin Worlds, helping Rihanha seeking aid from the Federation. When the immediate crisis passed, he returned to his studies.

At the Academy, Michael's skill at Starship Piloting was allowed to develop. He was also trained as a Fire Control officer and as a Security officer. He was comfortable in all three roles, though his preference was always at the helm.

Upon graduation, newly-minted Lieutenant Tyber was assigned to the USS Starfire as the ship's helmsman. When the ship was attacked by Klingon raiders in one of the first battles of the war, Tyber's skills were instrumental in preventing the total loss of the ship, though it was damaged beyond repair. Tyber was reassigned to the USS Stardancer as the ship's second officer and helmsman.

Throughout the Klingon/Federation War, Lt. Cmdr. Tyber distinguished himself, rising quickly through the ranks. Eventually he was assigned as a liaison to D'Tan's flotilla. After several assignments in Romulan space, helping the new Romulan Republic root out Tal'Shiar agents, he was promoted to Captain and given command of the USS Scotland, an Armitage-class Heavy Escort Carrier. When the Scotland was badly damaged in an Undine attack, Tyber was temporarily assigned to command an Andorian Escort in an officer-exchange program.

Tyber's hobbies include xenoanthropology, galactic history, and Terran and Rihanssu literature.

He speaks Rihan fluently, but is hopeless with Klingon, and routinely breaks into coughing fits when trying to speak that language.

DUDE! Same thing here. Mavar is my main STTRPG character, my Rommmie is too: T'Var; as is my Klink: K'Var. We just need a real crafting system, then I can recreate Dal Mavar from Trader Captains & Merchant Princes!!

Out-of-character background:

It's difficult to start: since I was a child I dreamed of being a Starfleet Captain, so basically every character I created in the Star Trek Universe is a sort of representation of myself.
Until now, I created at least five characters for the Star Trek universe: two for an Italian via-chat online RPG; one for a via-forum RPG; and, finally, two for Star Trek Online.
I designed Andrej Timoreev when Cryptic launched the Delta Recruit initiative, as new character after Mathias Keller....and, with the time, I must admit I became very fond of him, and practically he's now my main character.
This is creating few problems for me at roleplay level: I usually love to roleplay scientists, particularly archaeologists, historians, anthropologists, and as such Timoreev is my first engineer ever, and I'm not yet very sure on how to roleplay him.....and I feel a bit sad for not having a main scientific character for roleplay here in the Fleet.

By the way...this is his background:

In-game background:

Andrej Timoreev was born in Moscow, Sol III, the 5th October 2389. His parents were Alexander and Olya Timoreev (his mother family name was Lichenko, of Ukrainian origins).
At the time, Alexander was a civilian doctor, namely a neurologist in Novosibirsk. After the birth of Andrej he decided to move in Moscow (he also teached at the MGU, the Moscow State University).
On the other side, Olya was a Starfleet engineer, specialized in propulsion physics. She served on board the U.S.S. Melbourne, U.S.S. Thunderchild, U.S.S. Lysithea and U.S.S. Doolittle.
The relation between Alexander and Olya was without doubts difficult: she was continuously moving, exploring the stars, while he stayed on Earth, not so keen in following his wife in her journeys.

For a great part of his childhood, Andrej had to live with the father. He usually met his mother during her short leaves on Earth, or he heard of her accomplishments (or, at least, the accomplishments of the vessels on board of which she was serving at the moment) through the news.
A lonely child, he quickly showed a great passion for studying almost every subject: from history to psycology, although his strongest interest was surely engineering. Collecting a number of models of Starfleet vessels (ranging from the Phoenix to the Sovereign Class), he learnt their specifics, the performance of their impulse and warp engines, the capacity of their sensor systems, their weaponry , and so on.
Maybe influenced by his mother job, he quickly discovered to be very keen on learning everything about propulsion systems: the history fo the theories of Zefram Cochrane or Archer fascinated him at the high school.
But there was also something else he was interested in: the greatest passion was, without doubts, the Space.
His youth passed by looking at the stars far above him, wondering what was out there, and how to reach new planets and civilizations.
No surprise that, at the end of the high school, he decided to join Starfleet.

His father was not so happy when he told him: when Andrej was still eleven years old, Olya finally decided to leave Alexander. This happened only two years before she was killed, when the Doolittle, on board of which she served as Chief Engineer, was destroyed during a mission in the Romulan Neutral Zone.
But, ignoring the protests of his father, Andrej held his position: finally, Alexander surrendered, and Andrej started to attend the Academy at Marseille. At the third year, he was transferred to the San Francisco Academy.
At the Academy, Andrej finally had the opportunity to learn more about himself, his true vocation, and his abilities: transforming himself step-by-step, he was no more the little, lonely child who lived his life between the Moscow Museum of Aerospace Science, Gorky Park, and the MGU. He was now a skilled, resourceful, and even more socializing person.
While his passion for propulsion systems and physics never ceased, he soon found himself more and more keen in pursuing a career in the Operation division: the opportunity to operate on every system of the ship, to be more directly on the frontline of missions and exploration, was too strong for him to resist.

However, there was something else he needed to leave behind himself, in Moscow. A young girl, probably the only friend he could say to have had since he was a young teenager: Alexandra Feodorovna Gurshieva.
Since the beginning, she and Timoreev had very similar characters: both were stubborn, lonely youngs.
But while the eyes of Timoreev were always, firmly, kept on the stars, those of Gurshieva were far more "flexibles". A very intelligent and cultured girl, daughter of a colleague of Timoreev's father, she cultivated many different passions, exactly like her friend. But she was far more "volatile" in her interests.
The two youngs often had strong discussions, even open conflicts, on so many issues that Timoreev soon stopped to count them. More than friends, they often looked as rivals.
However, in the deep of their hearts, they both discovered to feel more than simple friendship for the other, a thing they never had the courage to openly confess to each other (and this became another reason for conflict).
When Timoreev decided to join Starfleet, Gurshieva felt herself abandoned: they met for the last time at the metro station of Universitet, just in front the main building of the MGU, in a snowy day, and they had their last, dramatic, discussion.
At the end, she turned her shoulders to Timoreev, leaving him to pursue her own career in the field of anthropology and history.
He never met her again.

In San Francisco, he finally met his first, true friends after Gurshieva: Elisa Flores, a young human cadet with a strong tactical mind; Halora, a Bolian girl with whom he shared his passion for engineering; and Iria, a Vulcan girl dedicated to science (particularly to exobiology).
They became so strongly united, that soon at the Academy everyone knew of the “Strange Quartet”, as they were labelled.

Their graduation cruise was on board the U.S.S. Rihlah, a Centaur-class vessel.
But, soon, everything went wrong, and Andrej, already chosen as Executive Officer of the ship, found himself at the command of the Rihlah in a dangerous situation. There, he had the opportunity to show his provess and his determination, and the result was that he saved the ship and her crew.
As a result, he was promoted to be the commanding officer of the Rihlah, with his friends to form the command roster.

Actually, Admiral Timoreev is the commanding officer of the U.S.S. Rihlah, NCC 92733-C.
A Sovereign Class vessel, a sound and proven ship, she's assigned at the borders with the Cardassian Union, with her operational base being Deep Space Nine, in the attempt to improve security against the raids of the True Way raiders and, possibly, to increase Starfleet knowledge of the area also on a scientific level.

He still keeps and cultivates all his old passions: his quarters on board the Rihlah are filled with his collection of small starship models, and he still found the possibility to actively contribute to the solution of many engineering issues, particularly in case the propulsion system get involved.
But, also, he has found the time to cultivate another passion of his childhood: history.
In his personal office, one could find reproductions of some important pieces of Kurlan archaeology (including a naiskos). Nobody, nor even him, could say if this is a sincere passion, or maybe only a desperate attempt to recover at least an illusory picture of the times when he had the opportunity to cultivate this interest with Gurshieva.
He has also a good ability at playing poker with his officers.

This Biography is going to be an Out of Character Bio depicting a broad overview of her experiences. I am working on a longer more indepth story describing her background, experiences, and more starting from the final weeks of her time at Starfleet Academy that I am planning to post later on.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sariniah Ochoa Westle was born on Earth near San Francisco to her mother Laudi Westle and her father John Westle. Laudi was a doctor who worked in a local pediatrician’s office and specialized in most urgent matters involving kids, and her father John was a stay at home dad who ensured that the meals were cooked, Sariniah was safe, and the house was cleaned.
When Sariniah entered grade school she developed an interest in her mothers work and would often play doctor with her dolls and other toys. Her interest in her mothers work opened the door to what would be her new interest, xenobiology. As she continued to go up in grade level at school she would start taking more and more biology classes ranging from basic biology to honors biology. When she graduated high school she signed on with Starfleet and went to college to get a degree in Xenobiology.
After college she attended Starfleet Academy in San Francisco and eventually be assigned to the U.S.S. Biome after several adventures and stories (that I will cover more in depth in later stories).
