Rollok was born on Romulus during an uncertain time. People were afraid, but they were unable to show it. Citizens were disappearing, everyone knew why, but there was nothing that could be done about it. The watchful eye of the Tal Shiar was everywhere. Rollok was lucky, in a sense, he was born to a wealthy family who's influence well well known throughout the Empire, but it was known in infamy. Rollok's father, Kateren, was a Tal Shiar operative. Rollok lived in ignorance of this, no one dared reveal the truth to him out of fear, not even his mother. Rollok was trained in combat at an early age, his father wanted him to follow in his footsteps, but he only thought his father was training him for a role in the military.

In mid 2386 Rollok's mother disappeared and he was moved off planet. His father told him she was forced to move because of a new government position she had been offered on another city on Romulus, but he was suspicious as to why he was moved off planet so abruptly, and what happened to his mother. It was a year later that he began realising the truth. When the Hobus star went supernova and destroyed Romulus, he knew his mother was dead, but he didn't know what had killed her. He grew suspicious of his father and began monitoring his movements. He created several small tracking sensors throughout the house they stayed in. He attempted to break into his computers to try and find anything he could. It wasn't until he followed his father onto his Warbird, the I.R.W. Aesalon, that he learned the truth. His father was a Tal Shiar agent.

Angered at his father's betrayal, not only to his people, but to his mother as well, Rollok left his home, stowing away on a transport. He vowed to one day make his father pay for what he had done. He became a mercenary, changing his name and trying to earn enough to purchase a Starship and a crew. He had few friends, but became well known after nearly ten years of paid jobs, even commandeering a Varanus Class ship, which he called the Ulito. Unfortunately, what should have been a standard raid on a Cardassian Galor Starship turned bad when Dominion true way reinforcements intervened. The fight was brutal, leaving the Ulito all but destroyed. Were it not for the intervention of several Romulan Republic vessels he would have been killed.

He and his crew were treated aboard the Romulan ships and taken to the Romulan flotilla. Rollok was both admired and hated by many captains in the Republic fleet. As a mercenary he had proven himself more than capable of defeating more veteran captains. But, though he made a point to keep clear from raids to Romulan colonies or the Republic, he had still become well known as a criminal. He instructed his crew to surrender to the Republic and, despite some protest, they eventually did. All of them spent years as prisoners of the Republic, they were under strict orders from Rollok to behave well in the prisons, and they completed their sentences without incident. As the Commander, Rollok was the last to be released and immediately requested a placement in the Republic fleet.

The fleet agreed that, as a skilled Commander, as well as with his history of animosity with the Tal Shiar, that Rollok would be a much more valuable asset as part of the fleet. He was given command of a warbird, the R.R.W. T'Xeren. No longer living in fear of his heritage, and finally in a strong position to go on the offensive, Rollok proudly reclaimed his name. His Command was not without incident. He was well known to fire upon any Tal Shiar ships he came in contact with. The T'Xeren was a Dhael class warbird, giving him the element of surprise against even D'Deridex battleships. He earned respect in combat from his crew. He was often the first choice for missions known to involve combat.

His final mission with the T'Xeren was to find the cause of ship disappearances in the Azure Nebula. These were different to Tholian incidents, as there was often debris left behind, Tholians usually took whole ships. Not long after their arrival in the system the culprit showed itself. A Tal Shiar Warbird capable of firing torpedoes while cloaked. Its sensors also seemed to be able to more readily detect cloaked ships, so the T'Xeren's cloak was useless. Rollok led a boarding party to the Warbird, using the T'Xeren to protect them on their journey and, taking advantage of the T'Varo's vulnerability when firing, boarded the ship.

Rollok recognised every corridor on the T'Varo from boarding his father's before, and soon realised that he was on the same ship. There was very little resistance capable of standing up to the boarding party and they were soon on the bridge, but there was no sign of his father. The bridge crew had fled at the first sign of danger, a cowardly act. Nevertheless, Rollok was content with the knowledge that he had won a great victory over his father, by taking his prized Warbird. Rollok took the ship to the fleet and requested its command. After taking time to study its new cloaking technology, his request was granted and, after much arguing with the Ship registrar, kept its I.R.W. registry, an act of gloating at his father for when they meet.
